Astrology; passing of soul

Hi,

I have two questions that I hope are considered on topic. I would

like to have a better understanding of astrology in order to get the

most out of the NMB newsletter. Please let me know if what is being

talked about is Western astrology or if it is Jyotish astrology. I

met someone who was studying jyotish, which she said is the

ayurvedic form of astrology and different from the Western form. I'd

be interested in knowing more about both and, in particular, the one

that is the basis for New Millenium Being.

I'm also interested in knowing how Yogi Bhajan viewed the moment of

death and our passing from our physical body. Does the soul's

passing occur at the moment of death or is there a delay? Did he

believe that the soul passed from one specific place in our body or

specific chakra? I don't mean to be morbid. I lost my father this

morning. I know that in the past year or so, while fighting cancer,

my father said that he did not feel there was a God. I don't know

whether that was something he continued to believe or not. Hopefully

he changed his mind and that he was at peace with the process of

death.

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Dear Alisa,

I am very sorry to hear about your dad! I am wishing you a lot of strength in

this difficult

time!

My mom passed away last summer. She was 61 and fighting with bilt duct cancer in

the

last year of her life. She was having a lot of pain. In this period I did a lot

of Ram Das

meditation for healing. I found consolation in the Tibbetan book of living and

dying by

Sogyal Rinpoche. During the cremation I did a special meditation for cremation

of a great

teacher. My mom is my first teacher in life.

To help the soul of my mom I chanted the Akal, akal mantra for 17 days with a

group.

Here follows the description in case you would like to do it.

Akal Akal Akal Akal

Akal Akal Akal Akal

Akal Akal Akal Akal

AKAL (Undying)

The Last Gift

Chant akal - this meditation or chant may be done by anyone as a gift to the

soul that has

left its body. The chanting of the akal farewell raises the vibration and light

to aid in the

transition. This chant akal call helps send the soul home to creator.

Sit in Easy pose (cross-legged with spine, neck, and head in alignment, slight

chin tuck)

Eyes closed, focus at 3rd Eye (up and out, 2 ½ finger widths above the bridge of

the nose)

Gyan Mudra (Arms outstretched, straight line shoulder to finger tips, index

fingernail in

first joint of thumb)

Set intent: For passing of " state the name " and any other souls that are ready

to go into

the light.

Location: your choice but some highly energy sensitive people prefer to do it

outside

because it draws many souls to the chant who are ready to leave.

Inhale deeply

Chant akal " AKAL " (with long all, Sounds like A Caaaaaaaaaaal)

Inhale and begin again.

Duration 11 minutes optimum

Done daily for 17 days.

First 3 days optimum to chant akal twice a day within 2 ½ hours before sun rises

and sets.

Any time or duration is an acceptable blessing. If you want to commit to 17 days

and you

miss a day, simply begin the count again.

Blessings Return to Those who Give!

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! (Pure ones belong to God)

Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! (Victory belongs to God)

Victory over life for eternal life!

Sending you my love and support,

Dharam Darshan Kaur

Sat Nam,

I would like to have a better understanding of astrology in order to get the

most out of the NMB newsletter.

* There are several answers and it depends on how deep you want to go.

Astrology is complex and seems complicated at the beginning. There are a lot of

components, like KY. But once you know them and start seeing how all the pieces

get put together, it is very fascinating and makes a lot of sense.

* I suggest the book Llewellyn's Complete Book of Astrology. It seems clear

and easy to understand. And there are many others.

Please let me know if what is being talked about is Western astrology or if it

is Jyotish astrology.

* Western. But I read Jyotish books to get the insights about the meanings.

* You can also read the past issues of NMBeing. I cover a lot of the basics in

the early issues.

I met someone who was studying jyotish, which she said is the ayurvedic form of

astrology and different from the Western form. I'd be interested in knowing more

about both and, in particular, the one that is the basis for New Millenium

Being.

* Jump in. Take one book at a time. Also get a copy of your chart and use that

as you go through your book or readings of choice. I started out with my chart

and that make it much more fun and was a way to start putting the information

together.

Blessings,

Guru Rattana :+)

Thank you so much for your kind wishes.

I did some meditations to heal remotely for both my mother and my

father. My father had prostate cancer that had spread to his bones

and kidneys. I don't think he had terrible pain in his bones,

although he did have some. I think the kidney issue was likely

worse. He was lucky in that respect.

I'll try the AKAL chant. I know I need to focus more on meditation

and yoga, especially at this time. I feel that my father was

reaching state of peace right before going. I hope so and that it

was not just weakness. But perhaps they go hand and hand as someone

slows down in preparation for the end.

It sounds like your mother was so lucky to have you.

Sat Nam

Thanks again,

Alisa

Thank you for the advice. I'll be sure to read the NMB past issues

and will look into a book or two to learn more. Seeing that certain

things about astrology ring true, I feel I need to find out more. I

have a cousin who likes to do charts. I wasn't sure if the Western

chart was different than a Jyotish one.
