Guest guest
SSA.... this being my first query ...lookin forward for long journey. I'm in my early twenties and stumbled upon the wonderful thing called Kundalini Yoga some months ago. I have already gone through the Free course available online and have started putting it into practise, however there are many excercises mentioned for a lot of general purposes for all times. I need to know what specific kriyas I can do before sleep and after wakin up. My keen areas of improvement being always in secure state of mind, killing anxiety completely and sleep with a clean mind and as quickly as possible. Im never under a stress but a lot of thoughts are always runin up in my mind even before sleep . A lot of times I end up confused with the question of purpose of the life. As I told, i have started with the kriyas (which are helping of course) but cud u plz guide me for the purpose I have mentioned above what should I start practising before sleep and after gettin up. I have a lot of other questions and experiences to share but any guidance will be of great releif. Thankful, Akash , Mumbai, India.
Guest guest
Dear Akash: Life is beautiful! Always! Whenn we don't see it that way it is because we misunderstand. I experienced that one day as I felt loved completely unconditionally and I heard the words that the world did not want to be changed... just loved. So about your uncertainty about life's purpose... I would say there is none... really... it is all an illusion... until we start seeing the beauty in everything, seeing God in everything, being grateful for every experience.... Of course we each have specific things to offer the world, but we don't need to be concerned with that... life naturally brings us to that place where we share of ourselves and we only need to become aware of how we want to respond, so it comes from us, not from what we have learned from society or from anyone. About " killing anxiety " ... first stop wanting to " kill " it and every time you feel anxious, simply look at it and laugh... anxiety is nothing... just a habit... it is not yours... you just think it is.... there is nothing to do about it because it is not yours to start with... so just laugh... if you can't it is because you are still taking things too seriously, too personally... To sleep better there are yoga sets (Kriyas)but the simplest technique is to lay down and feel all the sensations/agitation in your body and allow them to leave your body, stop attaching to them. One of my students calls this downloading. It feels like this. With practice it takes a few minutes... Some days, it may take longer if one has had a challenging experience. About all the thoughts you engage in... How important do you think your thoughts are in the presence of the infinite? If there is a God and if God showed him/her/itself to you, would you still think your thoughts matter more, would you turn away so you can listen to your thoughts or would you keep quiet and listen to what God has to say? Approach life that way. Infinite wisdom speaks to us with each of our life's experiences. So you have to make a choice between your thoughts and your experience... it is up to you... I would suggest you experience the Kriyas offered in the free course and start paying attention as to how they affect you. Study how you respond to them. They should all be helpful in alleviating anxiety and help you sleep better. It would be a distraction (adding more unnecessary thoughts) to want anything more for now. Best wishes and blessings, Awtar Singh
