Guest guest
Sat Nam, I have been doing Waheguru Chant (with holding arms straight out on Wahe, raising upwards on guru, then back). This chant (done to Snatum Kaur's Waheguru Wahe Jio) is excellent, and I felt benefits during the first chant, and feel lasting benefits after the first few chants. It helps especially with mental clarity and energy. My arms have gotten tired and they can do less with each time I practice. I have been using arnica oil and gel, which help but do not increase the stamina much. Are there any suggestions to build the stamina of the arms? Guest guest
Keep up to be kept up. Push through,do not give into the mind and drop your arms. That is part of the meditation. The more you do the meditation the stronger your arms and will, will be. Guest guest
Sat Nam Jon, Arm stamina will increase with practice. Be kind to yourself. Here are some postural awareness tidbit that help me: While seated, anchor from the navel point to the spine and then down through the root into the floor or earth. (Many thanks Guru Prem & Simran for the book " Divine Alignment " .) This should feel internal rather than a tensing of the lower abdominal muscles. Imagine a line from 2 inches below the navel traveling back to the spine and then making a 90 degree turn down to the floor. This grounding of the lower body frees the upper body to float up. Lift at the sternum, feel the heart open and relax. Allow the shoulders to relax back. I raise them up toward my ears lengthening the sides of my body and then let them rest down toward the wall behind me feeling the should joints spacious and relaxed. This movement usually opens my heart further. Be aware of the shoulders and allow them to be relaxed back and fluid with your movement. Be aware of the heart chakra/chest area relaxing there and not collapsing the chest or rounding the shoulders forward. Allow the mantra to energize your body. Be more aware of the mantra and how all of your body feels rather than concentrating on the obvious. And again - be kind to yourself. Guest guest
I was pushing through to the point of my arms being unable to raise. It was reducing stamina, so what I have been doing currently is doing the arm movements on every-other chant. That allows me to complete the chant and still work to near exhaustion and keep up the heat. So far, arnica gel/oil, and warm up stretching both help to reduce resistance to the movements.
