Guest guest
Hello All, I am trying to do meditation for past 18 months. I was also doing some basic pranayama for around 3 to 4 months in the beginning. Later I discontinued it as i was feeling some pressure in the forehead and the top of the head. Now a days i feel the same pressure in the forehead and top of the head even with out pranayama.Similarly i feeI an upward flow of energy in the spine from the range of heart to the top of head. It exists even in normal times when ever my mind gets settled a little bit. I if concentrated on that the pressure gets increased very much such that i cannot withstand it. . I want to know whether it is really an improvement or a problem. Can any one please advice me? Sat Nam, Regards, Varatha Download prohibited? No problem. CHAT from any browser, without download. Guest guest
I´ve done the pranayam meditation Sodarshan Kriya and pressure in your head is a symptom that helps you get rid of garbage in the subconscious mind. Also, burning sensation on the skin at first Start slow 5minutes for the first month 40 days. This meditation has done much to cure me of my severe depression, from being sexually abused and handicapped as a child and I feel happy afterwards and my past disappears because the first chakra becomes cleaned out and takes away my pain. It is the most powerful kriya in Kundalini yoga and can be done by itself. I´m currently doing 11-22mins 750+ days. The first 180days your ego resists against the change you are creating and this can be difficult but if you continue after the releasing becomes easier and permanent lasting transformation become a reality. Always do a kriya before a pranayam or meditation even if it´s just some stretch or spinal twist. Sat kriya 5mins with 5minute layout then sodarshan 5mins would be a great way to start for the first 40 days then slowly increase 1min. every two weeks. This pranayam has helped me more than any other practice but you do feel pressure, that means it is working. They call it the perfect chakra cleanser. You can get bored with this neutral mind meditation because you are cultivating detachment so I like to do sat kriya to ground me to be more pragmatic or a negative mind meditation which protects you and makes your mind faster after to balance it. The book, " Mind It´s Facets and Projections " by Yogi Bhajan is a good read to learn more about this stuff. Or some chanting working with the heart center or a posture like mahan gyan mudra to evoke the positive mind which helps you enjoy life and feel pleasure. Traditional texts say we should master asana before pranayama so maybe you could stretch out and try to work with bound lotus kriya for 31minutes and then try a pranayam after. -Chris Varatharajan M <varathabase3 wrote: Hello All, I am trying to do meditation for past 18 months. Guest guest
Dear Chris and Varatha and everyone else, Chris, I enjoy reading your emails. (BTW if you could please leave spaces between paragraphs, your letters would be easier to read.) I appreciate your discipine and emotional honesty. And in this letter I see your humor. From Chris -- Traditional texts say we should master asana before pranayama so maybe you could stretch out and try to work with bound lotus kriya for 31minutes and then try a pranayam after. Bound lotus for 31 minutes is quite an aspiration. But never the less, there is wisdom in this suggestion. Not because Varatha should jump immediately to this level of physical aspiration, but because this is a grounding exercise. And grounding and physical exercise are I what I would suggest, not only for Varatha but for the letters today on root lock and kundalini energy. Varatha is expressing a very common phenomenon when we have too much energy in the head. And when the kundalini energy rises, but is not redistributed in the body. I would not suggest avoiding pranayama. I would suggest breathing deep into the belly and dispersing the energy in the lower chakras. Feel your feet. Meditate on the bottom of your feet, your legs, belly. Feel and enjoy the sensations in your body. Cultivate a strong navel center and meditate on the pulse at the navel. Of course, you have to do meditations and exercises that cultivate the 3rd chakra. All this physical exercise and attention will bring energy into your lower body and release pressure in your head. And then there is the added benefit of being grounded -- we become magnets that attract what we want and need. Right on target as the Sun enters Taurus tomorrow and the full moon in Scorpio compliments the Taurian passion for full body experiences. Blessings, Guru RAttana :+)
