Sat nam All,

I have been practicing KY for about 2.5 months. A newbie. I use dvds.

I've been doing Gurumukh's dvd and also I have 2 from Ravi and Ana.

This week, I've been doing Gurumukh's mostly but today decided to do

R & A's Begginers and Beyond. Everything was fine till we got to the

rootlocks. Rootlocks tend to be pretty intense for me and I can't

hold them very long yet. Today as I was doing about the 3rd or 4th

one I suddenly had this searing pain shoot up from the back of my neck

and explode in my head! Ouch, my head still hurts, though not as

intense now, it's been about 15 min.

What the heck was that? Was that the energy coming up my spine? Why

does it hurt so much? Will it get better if I keep doing the locks?

Do I have a blockage or something?

I'd appreciate any input here. I love the yoga but I had to stop my

practice today because that headache was like no other.....

Thanks,

Melissa

Hi, Melissa.

I am by no means a master, just a student as you are. I have been practicing

for 5 years now and hope to go for teacher training the Fall of this year.

I have found that when you do your root lock, the easiest way to get into

position is to pull you belly button back into your spine and all else will pull

up and in to place. It gets easier with practice, just do your best and keep

up!

I think you may have released during the practice, but that is good, let it go.

There are many emotions

you may go through during the practice of Kundalini but unfortunately sometimes

physical pain is present as well.

You may experience emotional pain, fear, happiness or even weep or scream out

loud. It is so incredible. I hope your pain has passed by the time you read

this.

Are there any Kundalini instructors where you live? If you are not sure, check

the 3HO website. Practicing with a certified teacher with other students is

wonderful because you will benefit from their expertise and energy.

Best to you.

Sat Nam,
