Guest guest
Sat Nam Everyone! I have a question about clothes for Kundalini Yoga. I cannot find any outlet via the internet that has clothes that would be best for Kundalini practice and participating in White Tantrics (White, all natural material, loose fitting, of a Middle Eastern style (or similar) in design, etc...) I have seen many people wearing such outfits and wondered if there was a good outlet that sells or makes such clothing and head coverings (or sewing patterns). Where do you get your yoga clothes? Thanks! ~Nancy ______________________________\ ____ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
Sat Nam Nancy the head coverings are just white cotton material that is wrapped around....you can go to Sikhnet.com and see how to wrap a turban. If you prefer not to wear a turban, you can buy little crochet beannies that look nice, or even wear a scarf. If you plan on comming to Summer solstice, we have a bazzare there that has all kinds of lovely things. I just look in regular stores and find white all natural fiber clothing. They sell Indian style shirts in regular department stores... once you start to keep your eye out, you'll be amazed at how much is out there....especially now with spring and summer comming on. Another opption is when you do find the style of shirt you are looking for you can take that to a seamstress and she can copy it for you. I found a nice kirta that was raspberry in color and it went down to my knees...then I found some pretty white cotton in a fabric store and had her make copies of it. From the same shirt I also asked her to make longer ones. Its not expensive, she charged $15. which I thought was reasonable (: you could also google Indian clothing and see what comes up. hope this helps. many blessings Jiwan Shakti Kaur --- Nancy Hight <dinniepup wrote: > Sat Nam Everyone! > > I have a question about clothes for Kundalini Yoga. > I cannot find any outlet via the internet that has > clothes that would be best for Kundalini practice > and participating in White Tantrics (White, all > natural material, loose fitting, of a Middle Eastern > style (or similar) in design, etc...) > > I have seen many people wearing such outfits and > wondered if there was a good outlet that sells or > makes such clothing and head coverings (or sewing > patterns). > > Where do you get your yoga clothes? > Thanks! > > ~Nancy > > > > ______________________________\ ____ > Be a better friend, newshound, and > know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
Greetings and Sat Nam Nancy, I load up when I'm in India. Tailoring and fine cotton and silk is so inexpensive there. I can put you in touch with a couple of good and reputable people in Amritsar. You'd send your measurements and somehow select a material (maybe send a small sample of what you'd like?). It would get shipped back here via either Air or Sea Mail. A basic 2 piece men's Kirta and Cheridars (top and pants) like the one in this picture <http://church-mouse.com/pics/wildnuss-in-Ramjula.jpg> was $17 total. Anything comparable in the US would be 5 times as much, easily. That's what I can suggest. Fateh! Guest guest
Contact Mohinder Singh Saluja in Amritsar There may be better tailors but he has perfect English, is very accessible, is cool and deals with the Westerners all the time. Absolutely mention me and my buddy Sat Hanuman Singh. fancy_mohinder 91 - 183 254-8365 I have one other source (Sumeet Sagoo in Delhi) but she has been very hard to contact via email. Her family phone was 4624570 in New Delhi. She charges more but if all you are looking for is " yoga clothing " . Mohinder is fine with it all. Just be precise in what you want and I can help you avoid some minor frustrations. Insist on double stitching in around knees, crotch and armpits, and leave room for shrinkage. I gave myself an extra 3 inches in the waist and 5 inches in the length. Also, elastic in India was pretty poor and so brought my own. I ran into another American who had brought her own elastic (funnie!). You can just remove whatever they insert when, or if, it fails. You can call me for further details Dharam 508 376-4635 BaBaGee wrote: >May I have a referral for this clothing tailor? > > > >--- >Received: Sun, 20 Apr 2008 08:09:37 PM PDT >D h a r a m <pranahsaurus >Kundaliniyoga >Re: Kundalini Yoga Yoga Clothes Question > >Greetings and Sat Nam Nancy, > I load up when I'm in India. Guest guest
Sat Nam Nancy, Where are you located? In Los Angeles, you can journey to Artesia and visit the stores there, or you can try www.fabindia.com if you are not near Los Angeles. I buy my white stretch pants at Hard Tail, here in Santa Monica; I believe they are available online as well. Hope that is a help to you, Sat Kaur Emily Marshall Kundaliniyoga , Nancy Hight <dinniepup wrote: > > Sat Nam Everyone! > > I have a question about clothes for Kundalini Yoga.
