Guest guest
I'm a beginner at Yoga, but am curious--is Lotus pose something that a beginner should be able to do? I'm nowhere close to being able to achieve it, short of breaking or tearing something. Just curious.

Guest guest
-I am curious also since i have muscle weakness and even tightness it is impossible for me also. I am older in my 50's and the muscles have tighten with age and arthritis. I always do my meditation on a chair and if i get on the floor i do the best i can but usually not very comfortable i lean on a wall or something to help. Do you have a alternative? Guest guest
I've been practicing Kundalini for five years as a student and have only sat in easy pose (criss cross applesauce, indian style, like a pretzel). Kundalini doesn't seem to require Lotus pose to complete a set (¯`v´¯) Surjot Kaur (Jules) `*.¸.*´ ¸.•´¸.•*¨) ¸.•*¨) (¸.•´ (¸.•´ .•´ ¸¸.•¨¯`• In a message dated 05/04/08 00:03:23 Eastern Daylight Time, ilove3dca writes: I'm a beginner at Yoga, but am curious--is Lotus pose something that a beginner should be able to do? Guest guest
Sat Nam - No worries if you cannot achieve sitting in Lotus pose right away. You can sit with your legs stretched open for many poses. You can use a pillow for support under the back of you hips to allow one or both knees to release forward without pain once you can get them to the point of bending in. You can even use a chair to practice yoga until you feel like you have the flexibility and gain the comfort it takes to be on floor. There's lots of ways to adapt yoga to your level. KY is a householders yoga. Talk to you yoga teacher and just let them know that you need to adapt the yoga to your level because you are not at the level of everyone else in the class if that is the issue. Good luck.
