Guest guest
Hello everyone, I am having a hard time using this chant and also chanting Sat Nam. In my finnish language it means satans land--please does anyone know/have an alternative chant? I understand that it does not mean this, but in my mother tongue(first language learned)it is really hard to try to focus on the true meaning-when the words have a duality for me... It really bothers me,can someone please help? Thx, Jaana
Guest guest
Hello Jaana, I've always found the best way to use this chant would be to focus on your breath. Inhalation focusing on 'Sat' and the exhalation on 'Nam'. You will find when you breathe that the sound the body makes on each inhale and exhale correspondes to Sat-Nam. Practice when you can as you breathe all the time. Eventually the effect will be that you automatically be chanting this when you breathe. Take your time when you practice and see how your bosy responds. From your email it seems that your body is discouraging you from learning a new skill. This will subside with regular practice. Blessings, Goldie Singh.  lap_car_0 <lap_car_0 Kundaliniyoga Monday, 19 May, 2008 8:51:50 PM Kundalini Yoga re:sa ta na ma Hello everyone, I am having a hard time using this chant and also chanting Sat Nam. Guest guest
Hi Jaana, my Guru gives us Satnaam mantra to meditate upon, but he says not to get caught up with the word - as great as it is, it is still par tof the physical. Ultimately even it fades away and all that is left is Silence. HE said that Silence is higher than Satnaam. He also said that SAT means Truth, even adding NAAM to it , is just a description. So in meditation you will find that we go from various mantras or verses or prayers to various names of God, then we find ourselves drawn to SAT NAAM, then just to SAT, then just into SILENCE....the Pure Source. He said we did not have to recite just SAT or SAT NAAM, but to remember that it represented TRUTH. So we could repeat/chant on the word TRUTH as translated into our own language. Its just a way to focus us on the Source. And not meant to become a mental block. Its meant to uplift us to the Highest Consciousness - Truth Consciousness. SAT CHIT ANAND - means Remembering TRUTH one is in JOY. I read recently that JOY is our essence, wereas happiness and sadness are just emotions. But Eternal JOY is a state achieved when we merge into Truth Consciousness. dust of your feet HArjit sa ta na ma <Kundaliniyoga/message/27143;_ylc=X3oDMTJwbmwzYW5v\ BF9TAzk3MzU5NzE1BGdycElkAzQ2MDcyBGdycHNwSWQDMTcwNTA2MDk1NQRtc2dJZAMyNzE0MwRzZWMD\ ZG1zZwRzbGsDdm1zZwRzdGltZQMxMjExMzczMjcy> Posted by: " lap_car_0 " lap_car_0 <lap_car_0?Subject=+Re%3Asa%20ta%20na%20ma> lap_car_0 <http://profiles./lap_car_0> Tue May 20, 2008 6:54 am (PDT) Hello everyone, I am having a hard time using this chant and also chanting Sat Nam. Guest guest
Sat Nam Jaana, Sa Ta Na Ma is the complete cycle. There is no going part of the way. Sa (birth) Ta (life) Na (death) without the possibility of Ma (rebirth or resurrection, or if you will, forgiveness) is indeed hell, or " Satan's land " , let there be no misteking this. To be born, and to live and die without some sense of that aspect of us that IS undying and Infinite (Akal) is a pretty severe way to live. Guest guest
Thanks for this. I was thinking about doing a 52-day (planetary cycle) sequence of SA TA NA MA. Guest guest
Hello Jaana, the word " satan " too is not a finnish word! It's from Hebrew language (and religion) and it means " adversary, one who withstands, resists " . In the Job book of Bible, Satan is a collaborator of God to prove the faith of man. In Sanskrit " sat " means " true " or " essence " , and this language is a very ancient one, probably much more than Hebrew. Sanskrit is most probably a mother-tongue, a root, from which all our languages originate: it is founded in our unconscious. You could try to change your feelings thinking to Sat Nam or Sa-Ta- Na-Ma as an " adversary " of error, falsehood and spiritual ignorance. Also consider that Sat is an ancient and resounding word, much more than Satan, and that in the early concept of Satan there is a cooperation with God to reveal the truth of man... Sat nam!!! Guest guest
Thank-you for responding It is mostly-Sa Ta Na Ma part that bothers me. I understand the history and language of all this, and I try to overcome it,I need to find another chant/mantra that affects the same meridians in the mouth. Any ideas? Guest guest
Satnaam ji if its other mantras than Truth you're looking for then you can try RA MA NA MA RAAM is a popular name of God used in Guru Granth Sahib ji . RAAM NAAM comes in gurbani alot. RAAM is the most used name of God in Gurbani. Kabir Ji chanted it passionatelyt, he wrote that when he says RAAM he doesn't mean the Saint-King Ram Chandr (son of Dasrath) who was and still is revered by Hindus, but God Kabeer, it does make a difference, how you chant the Lord's Name, 'Raam'. This is something to consider. Everyone uses the same word for the son of Dasrath and the Wondrous Lord. ||190|| Kabeer, use the word 'Raam', only to speak of the All-pervading Lord. You must make that distinction. One 'Raam' is pervading everywhere, while the other is contained only in himself. ||191|| Guru Granth Sahib p1374 dust of your feet Harjit Re: sa ta na ma <Kundaliniyoga/message/27193;_ylc=X3oDMTJwazM5Mjk5\ BF9TAzk3MzU5NzE1BGdycElkAzQ2MDcyBGdycHNwSWQDMTcwNTA2MDk1NQRtc2dJZAMyNzE5MwRzZWMD\ ZG1zZwRzbGsDdm1zZwRzdGltZQMxMjEyNTEwMjc5> Posted by: " lap_car_0 " lap_car_0 <lap_car_0?Subject=+Re%3A%20sa%20ta%20na%20ma> lap_car_0 <http://profiles./lap_car_0> Tue Jun 3, 2008 4:31 am (PDT) Thank-you for responding It is mostly-Sa Ta Na Ma part that bothers me.
