Guest guest
hi, can anyone tell me if anti-depressants are prone to further block energy from major chakras? i feel both my naval and heart chakras are really stuck, it seems i need the anti-depressants though. main problem i think resides in the naval, if that is significant at all. thanks so much! -ejt

Guest guest
I don't know the answer to your question about antidepressents - however, have you tried doing a consistent daily sadhana of a kriya that focuses on the navel? A couple years ago I was in a really depressed state, and committed to doing 40 days of Nabhi Kriya. I was determined to try whatever I could before going on antidepressants. The yoga really worked and changed my life! It helped me become more resilient, active and inspired. I still have intermittent periods of depression, and honestly, I should probably do Nabhi Kriya more often. . . but at least I know it worked for me when I committed to a consistent practice. Guest guest
Sat nam! I am also taking a anti depressant and also working with a holistic MD in coming off. It entails replacing the synthetic with the natural (in this case Amino acids (and their co factors) targeting the specific neurotransmitters the drug was). Also I a doing specific KY - like Sodarshan Chakra Kriya as outlined in Dharma Singh Khalsa's book, " meditation as healing. " This meditation is great for depression he says. My friends parents (who studied with Yogi Bhajan in the 70's) heard of my KY practice and medication and warned me to not do both at the same time for adverse reactions or something. ?????? My thought is that if one goes off his meds without replacing the drug with an alternative, disaster awaits.(decompensate) However the KY is designed (as Dr Khalsa) so clearly states, to create balance in the endocrine system to restore neurotransmitter balance. So I am doing a balance of slowly coming off the med, taking its natural replacement, and my KY to restore internal health. Then hopefully in a year or two see if I can find a lower dose of all the aminos I am taking. :-) There are a lot of books out there by MD's and Yogi's a like to help with a transition from chemical to more natural ways to alleviate depression. I have a list my from MD friend. Write if you want the info. Let me know your thoughts please in this shared journey. Guest guest
Keep up, sodarshan kriya help me clean out my first chakra where my much of my pain from the past was stored 800+ days very difficult the first 180days do minimum times on tough days to avoid overwhelem. I´d also suggest the Healing Trauma exercise on youtube or mahan gyan mudra for opening the heart, great for anger/depression/anxiety I done it for 5 years and it´s always kept me going. I´d preceed this with a couple of months of nabhi and sat kriya, before trying it. -Chris mkestin wrote: Sat nam! I am also taking a anti depressant and also working with a holistic MD in coming off. Guest guest
Sat Nam Erin, I don't know about the energy being blocked by anti-depressants, but I know that they do kind of numb feelings. Depression is usually caused by an imbalance in the sixth chakra(third eye). I'd suggest that you do some meditation that focuses on the third eye and do some deep resonating mantras. Also, try some alternate nostril breathing. This gives a great sense of well being. Any inverted postures and postures where the forehead touches the ground are also good for strengthening the third eye. You may feel after a while of doing these exercises that you won't need your anti- depressants anymore. Give it a try. You never know.
