Guest guest
I have recently had a few breakthroughs with sodarshan chakra kriya. One of them has been peace of mind. However, I can't ever seem to be able to stand at ease with determining its exact posture. My question is in regards to pumping. In the book Meditation as Medicine, Dr. Khalsa advices to pump the navel 3 times for each syllable. Unlike Dr. Khalsa, or perhaps being more specific than Khalsa, Yogi Bhajan in his book THE MIND, specifies that with each pump you don't release the pump, but you make it tighter with each syllable and release on roo (of wha hey gu roo. Is the latter the correct form of pumping?(please notice that this regards only to pumping, not breath control)
Guest guest
Yes, I have been working on this one too. thanks for the question, baleada1. my breath control is also pretty bad. is this something i shouldn't be attempting until i have greater capacity? So, any guidance on this would be very helpful. -ejt On Mon, Jun 2, 2008 at 2:09 PM, baleada1 <baleada1 wrote: > I have recently had a few breakthroughs with sodarshan chakra kriya. > One of them has been peace of mind. Guest guest
I am no sadhu, but you may want to prepare yourself before trying this meditation. What has worked for me best is doing meditations/ kriyas that work on strengthening your 3rd chakra. anmolmehta.com has good videos on kriyas for 3rd chakra. You can start with sat kriya. Start also with finding the relationship between your breath, I have heard alternative nostril breathing works in getting you into it. But best, get a teacher and buy a book. Meditation as medicine, The Mind, and ravi singh video series have been the best sources I have heard about. The problem with sodarshan is that you will barely get by with it for a long time, especially when your lungs arent accustomed to so much air at such a brief period of time. Once you learn the breathing relationship, you will be a step closer to sodarshan. If you still want to do sck, I have found that doing breath of fire increases your oxygen in the blood, and therefore, allows you to last longer in sck. A few yogis have also recommended a modified sck, that is instead of 16 pumps, you do 4, and build your way up. anmolmehta.com has more info on how to do the modified version. I hope this helps, it is one of my most favorite kriyas because of its potential to change. Good luck Kundaliniyoga , " erin thomas " <erinjean> wrote: > > Yes, I have been working on this one too. thanks for the question, baleada1. > my breath control is also pretty bad. is this something i shouldn't be > attempting until i have greater capacity?
