Guest guest
Dear Mitar Kaur, Sat Nam. We have discussed this before with just ideas. Why don't the few of you who work with seniors contact each other and then work with each other (off line) and put something together? Basically as I have said before, be creative. Guest guest
Sat Nam dear Mitar Kaur, At the yoga show in London last year I came across someone who was teaching 'Seated Yoga' specifically for elderly people or people with disabilities.. Have a look online... under 'seated yoga' - there's a quite a few sites and a few people who specialize in it... I've already given the leaflet I picked up at the show to a friend of mine.. let me know how your search goes and if needs be i'll call my friend.. all blessings to you... Guest guest
Sat Nam Mitar, When I am teaching Kundalini yoga to those with limitations I just modify the kriyas as best I can. For example, if doing Sat Kriya one would have their feet firmly " planted " on either the floor (if sitting in a regular chair), or if in a wheel chair have their feet firmly rooted into the foot rest on the wheel chair. Have them raise their arms the best they can in order to mimic arms along side the ears fingers interlaced with index finger pointing. The ideal is that the arms are along side the ears, however due to certain mobility issues this won't be the case for everyone, so coming as close to the ideal pose as possible is what I look for. For some of my students this will mean that the arms are more parallel to the the floor than overhead. There are several books out on chair types of yoga, but to give you ideas look at yoga for ms. This is not a kundalini based style of yoga, but it might give you some ideas as to how to change things. If you need help with specific kriyas, I am willing to do my best to help you modify them. Another book you might want to get is " Pain Cure " by Dharma Singh Khalsa. This is a wonderful book with great kriyas and other info.
