Guest guest
Dear Members Are there any suggested practices to control hair loss and perhaps even regrow it. Would be great if those practices are supported by positive remedial experience. I am eager to know not just about hair loss but also would appreciate as to how to manage very dry itching scalp and dandruff control. Any attempt to apply any hair oil leads to immediate hair loss as hair are very fragile to begin with, at least with the traditional applying with finger tips method. Some say applying any chemicals exacerbates this problem and therefore rule out any shampoos etc. The market, though, is flooded with anti dandruff shampoos which presumably are chemical, at least the well known brands. Many Thanks Bliss

Guest guest
 Hello Shiv, I have too suffered from hair loss in the past. The best way I've found to stop the loss is to use a good shampoo and wash your hair and scalp regularly. Let the hair completely dry before you try to comb or add oil. I'm no expert in this matter as I used to cut my hair very short but once I had grown in to a length of nearly 2 feet then I encountered problems with the hair knotting and trying to undo them. My wife's hair is about 4 feet long so she was a very good source of information on how to care for your hair and manage it gently. Use a wooden comb also once the hair is completly dry as this reduces the static charge that builds up and increases the blood flow into the scalp. I normally apply a small amount of virgin olive oil before I comb as this lubricates the hair and helps with any knots. I do not use a hair dryer as my hair tends to frizz. Letting it dry on its own is what I ususally do. Don't tie your hair up into any type of knot while it is wet as this can cause a lot of breakage. Just take your time with your hair and see how it responds to different techniques when you do wash and care for it. Blessings, Goldie Singh. Guest guest
Bliss I'm sorry I don't know about reducing or reversing hair loss, but I've had much experience with itchy, dry scalp...with myself and my children. I ended up using plain white vinegar. It may sting your scalp at first, but will restore the ph balance (and smoothes the hair shaft for a shinier hair - added benefit). I still used cider vinegar as a rinse for my hair to smooth the frizziness and keep my scalp healthy without adding oils. I don't know if this will help, but I'd rather try anything natural than chemicals off the shelf. blessings, Suke If all Americans viewed and paid bills online, we could keep 18.5 million trees growing each year. Guest guest
Sat Nam, Hair loss depends on many things... age.. .hereditary factors... hormonal imbalance... dietary/nutritional balance, exercise. If it is due to hormonal / nutritional imbalance... then getting your diet right and practicing yoga should help. Yoga that focuses on balancing the secretion of the hormonal system / endocrine glands, particularly with focus on the pituitary gland which is the master gland informing and controlling all the other glands in conjuction with the hypothalamus. Anything that helps you relax is good as long term stress can lead to hair loss. Inverted postures, such as shoulder stand will help bring greater blood flow, thus stimulation, oxygen and nutrition to the head and hair follicles. When washing your hair with a natural therapeutic product, you can gently massage your head all over, working your fingertips in circles all over the scalp.. (enjoy this part!) Again if you choose to some kind of gentle oil blend, then gently massage your scalp to stimulate circulation. Getting the right product is important so you could consult someone. So you can approach it from two angles, 1) addressing the symptoms of the more immediate concern of itchyness and dry skin using a natural actively therapeutic product (for example Organix Thera Neem Shampoo and conditioner).. 2) then addressing any underlying imbalance through nutrition and yoga... which is a longer-term supportive approach. You could consult a nutritionist or a herbalist to help get your diet right Good quality protein (mung beans and rice, kitcheree, is good... search in past messages of this forum for the recipe) Essential Fatty Acids, (e.g. avocado, flax seed oil, walnuts), minerals (e.g. sea vegetables) and silica (e.g. onions, garlic, leafy greens, carrots, cucumber, bell peppers, sprouts - horsetail herb) will all help hair. Selenium, Biotin and Magnesium are also thought to particularly help Strengthening the kidneys is also important for hair and over all vitality. drinking plenty of water avoiding excessive, salt, coffee, sugar, unhealthy fatty food and alcohol. Foods that stregthen the kidneys are barley, quinoa, wheat berries, sweet rice, aduki beans, black beans, kidney beans, mung beans. (my sourse for a lot of the dietary information is from a book called 'You are what you Eat, by Gillian McKeith. Hope that's helpful! all blessings to you, Krishan Shiva Kaur
Guest guest
Sat Nam, Bliss, Check out the archives for " facial mositureizers " (spelling) and Neem. There is a product called Herb O Derm ? Neem shampoo is supposed to help with dandruff. Do a google search for Neem. There was a discussion on hair loss in that thread. Guest guest
Sat Nam, Hair loss for men is harder to do something about than for women. But silica and MSM are good. Silica can be bought in a liquid and MSM in a powder. Use one or two droppers a day fo silical and 1 t or more of MSM daily in liquid. (doesn't taste too good but it helps for a lot of things) Sat Nam, Guru Rattana :+)
