Guest guest
I have some issues over the definition of Kundalini Yoga: 1) I always thought that kundalini yoga referred to the old technique of the prevention of sphincter contractions during sex that diverted the energies down into the spine coupled, possibly, with hyperventilation. 2) I never understood such practices as these as requiring mastering - in much the same way as no-one can be said to be a master at getting angry or relaxed, or enjoying ones food, etc. So isn't 'mastering' more about the things we fear than the things we look for? - that is, isn't " mastering " defined by the things we want to avoid or control? 3) Anyway, asking for a definition of Kundalini Yoga seems to be historically and politically determined. Historically, certainly, but why politically? Well, because I think that the things we feel we ought to avoid in meditation are those things that are currently reflected in hidden social demands and fears. For example, we might justify the avoidance of certain experiences by saying that they are 'disordered' and lead to madness, or that calmness and powerful energies have no contructive relationship with each other, or are not parts of an altogether HUMAN process.
