Sat nam,

there is a special KY set for Weight Control consisting of 17 exercises, in

Gururattana´s " Sexuality and Spirituality " book, p. 82 - 88. It says that it is

for breaking down the inner layer of fat through the pressure applied.

Good luck!

I had to lose a lot of weight a about 4 years ago. I did it with yoga and diet.

I had to lose it

because my cholesterol was getting really high and I weighed about 280. First,

dieting was

really helpful, but I was a stress eater. Yoga helped me with that. Before I had

tried to work

out harder running and lifting weights, but those exercises bulk me up and make

me gain

more weight. I am almost 50 so I really didn't want to be very big and brawny. I

started

practicing kundalini yoga and since my wife is a hatha yoga teacher at a gym, I

went to her

classes. I practiced various kundalini yoga movements, meditations, mudras and

other

practices. I found out that yoga is a good non-bulk building exercise. I lost

about 60

pounds in 4 months. Whenever I got the urge to eat, I did some yoga. It

immediately

relaxed me and I found that I was no longer hungry. It helped me control my

appetite,

which was based on stressful eating and compulsion.

About 2 years after I started doing yoga and dieting, I became a vegetarian and

I lost

another 15 pounds (down to my current 205). There are a lot of good kundalini

yoga

practices that help someone lose inches from their waists or pounds from their

bodies. I

think that having calm energy from yoga helped me the most. Yoga is all I do for

exercise,

because it is all I have time for. I hope that this helps. Also have a lot of

faith that the

things you try for losing weight will actually work.

Blessings and Love

My appologies for not writing fior long

I would like to mention a very beneficial way of loosing weight and that is in

the following recipe of tea.

Boil water

Add a tsp. of Black tea .

Squeeze lemon and bit of sugar and pinch of salt.

Strain and ready to drink

The small is beautiful!!

Try this Lemon Tea empty stomach every morning for nearly 40 days and you

will see the weight  loss.

It has a very stimulating effect on stomach and washes away the heaviness of the

fats deposited on the veins and arteries.

Sat Nam Sam,

Applied Yogic science is Ayurveda. Yogiji was an Ayurvedic Master and

he shared with a formula that WORKS!

Eating just yogurt and Great Royal/Youngblood I lost 12 pounds in 12

days and have kept off 10 of those pounds for a year.

http://ahw.stores..net/10020.html

I can't say enough about this formula

I know a fella who lost 50 pounds in 50 days eating just yogurt and yogi

tea spices and has kept it off for 12 years. He does 2.5 hours of Sat

Kriya a day, btw.

Check it out. BTW, you can get 40% off if you get more than a few.

Sat Nam Everyone,

I would like to share my own experience of loosing 20kg weight

3 years back. It took me one year 3 months to completely loose 20kg.

I was over weight since I saw myself (from childhood I would say).

It was always big frustration for me. The reason being over weight

was over eating, as indian diet is very oily and made from saturated

fats all the time. So it was a big issue for me to loose my extra weight,

I tried loosing it many times and end up gaining more and more all the

time.

In nov 2002 I moved to australia from india but I still had the same

issue of weight. I was doing some exercise everyday but didnt help at

all. But I always had a hope one day i will loose it.

Next year my weight was touching 91kg which was much more than with my

height 5' 7 " . During that time I met a guy who used to be very overweight

and he lost allmost 35kg in 1 year, so I started asking him questions, tried to

follow his life style, started doing walk everyday. In next few months I lost

allmost 7-8 kg weight. During the same time I joined

a job where I was doing a lot of creative work. So that was kind of helping

me to keep myself up. after few months I lost 4 more kgs, now I had to

loose next 7-8 kg, I was bit lazy than, but I want to give last effort.

I wrote an email to all my friends that I will loose next 7kg weight in

next seven weeks, and beleive me I did that. It was the time when I was

allmost mad. I was running 1hr to 2 hrs everyday, 5 days a week.

I end up loosing 8kg more weight, So whole effort broght a very positive

result. my weight was 69 kg now.

isnt it strage, but its true. I didnt loose it with yoga to be honest,

coz I was not practising it at that time.

One more thing I would like to share here, during this time I was very

positive, creative at my work. I was reading many articles, books on

health, fitness and psychological books. few of them I can mention

them here. Psycho cybernetics by dr maxwell maltz, few books from

anthony robinson and stuff. so those books kept me up all the time.

now after loosing this weight, my mind was very cometitive, I was looking

what is there next to due. Coz I was not doing joging everyday, I started

gaining it back, not all but few kgs.

then I was introduced to kundalini yoga from an article on google, I felt I have

found something interesting, next week I went to class

and kept it continue for more than one year. during this time I learned

a lot about yoga philosphy, aurvedha and other indian things which

i never knew when I was in india.

Yoga helped me a lot to understand

that being over weight is not just a physical issue.

The bigges reason why I gain weight is frustration, If I am frustrated

I can gain weight, without even eating anything.

I eat very little now, as that much is needed by my body, I eat

a healty diet with all good fats. I eat ghee also which is

very good for our body.

I would suggest everyone who is struggiling with this problem should

consider following things if they want to loose extra weight.

1. What kind of work they are doing. Do they feel happy or frustrated

at work place, coz that is the very good reason to gain weigth. If some

one smokes a lot or drink alcohal or over eat because of

frustration, he will be over weight. it is called emotional

eating in normal medical world.

2. Yoga helps a lot to go deeper into our subconcious mind to understand

why are we eathing (unhealthy things). It helps to understand the

desire rather than supressing it.

3. Meditation helps to get the things done in easy way than struggling

hard.

I can write a whole book on this matter, but I think it should be enough

to start with.

one mathematic formula here over weight = eating - consuming.

I hope it helps.

Sat Nam Luna,

The first thing to do to lose some weight is become a vegetarian...eating more

of vegetables/fruit and some grains....   you will be amazed at how much more

energy you have, the body detoxifies gradually...and the fat disappears....and

stays off.

Try it...cheering you on!

blessings and Love....

* Avoid sugar.*

*Pay attention to sweetened drinks, juices, drink yogi tea or ayurvedic

teas( placed some recipes bellow some from

http://www.yogaholidays.net/magazine/teas.htm and the*

**

recipe they use at Yoga yoga comes from Yogi Bhajan, who introduced

Kundalini <http://yoga.about.com/od/kundaliniyoga/a/kundalini.htm> to the

west in the late 1960s. Yogi Bhajan is also the founder of the " Yogi Tea "

brand, which is easy to find in health food stores. It's very simple to make

this tea at home and it fills your house with its wonderful aroma.

*Ingredients:*

- *2 quarts water *

- *15 whole cloves *

- *20 black peppercorns *

- *3 sticks of cinnamon *

- *20 whole cardmon pods (split the pods first and be careful with the

tiny seed sticks that come from the inside) *

- *8 fresh ginger slices (1/4 " thick, no need to peel) *

- *1/2 teaspoon regular or decaf black tea leaves (approximately 1 tea

bag) *

*Preparation:* *Bring two quarts of water to a boil. Add cloves and boil one

minute. Add cardamom, peppercorns, cinnamon, and ginger. Cover and boil for

30 minutes. Reduce heat and simmer for two to three hours. Remove from heat,

add black tea, and let cool. Strain and store in the refrigerator. Reheat

when you want a cup and add milk and honey to taste but not always if you

want to lose weight. *Basil leaves, mint leaves, lemon grass leaves are

added and then the whole coccotion is boiled and reduced to half. See

http://www.sahej.com/yogi_tea.html for more information on the drink.

I suggest that you avoid gluten. A gluten-free diet involves the complete

avoidance of all foods made from or containing wheat, rye, barley and

usually, oats. Recently scientists and doctors discovered that gluten

produces a lot of allergies.

Try to eat a raw food diet and vegetables.

For a Yoga practice Guru Rattana suggests that you control your metabolism

by closing your right nostril with right thumb and inhaling and

exhaling thru left nostril during 90 minutes.

May you be blessed and lead a healthy, a holly and happy life.

Sat Nam!

Dharam Kaur

*Spiced green tea *

- 1 tablespoon organic green tea leaves,

- 3 pods black cardamom (green cardamom will do if black cardamom is

unavailable), crushed

- 1 piece of ginger, crushed

Makes one large teapot. Do not brew for more than three minutes, as green

tea becomes bitter after that. Black cardamom has a slightly smoky taste,

very different from that of green cardamom. This tea is good for digestion,

but it is heating, and both ginger and cardamom are said to be aphrodisiac,

so don't have it before bed, unless you are planning not to sleep

immediately.

*Camomile and ginger tea*

- 1 tablespoon dried camomile flowers

- 1 piece of ginger, sliced timely

I don't particularly care for camomile on its own, but ginger balances it

very well. Add a teaspoon of honey and sip slowly before your evening

meditation :)

*Thyme and mint tea*

- 1 pinch dried thyme, or better, a few twigs fresh thyme,

- 1 pinch dried mint, or better, a few leaves fresh peppermint

- 1 small twig rosemary (optional)

- 2 pints boiling water

Mint can be grown in any garden, and even in pots on a window sill. This tea

taste much better with herbs freshly picked from the garden. Brew for a few

minutes.

*Liquorice and fresh mint tea*

- a few leaves fresh peppermint

- 1 piece of liquorice stick (it's actually the rood of the plant, and

looks like a twig), about 1 inch long

- 1 pint boiling water

Pound the liquorice stick with a mortar and pestle. Brew with the mint for

at least five minutes as liquorice take a while to release its delicious

bitter sweet flavour. A great digestive tea, excellent for Pitta

constitution.

*Spicy pink tea*

- 1 large pinch of dried hibiscus flower

- 1 large piece of ginger, crushed

- 1 stalk lemon grass, chopped

- 1 pint boiling water

Hibiscus flowers give this tea a reddish colour, as well as a distinctive

tang, whish complement very well the fieriness of ginger. Brew for a few

minutes.

*Indian Chai*

- 1 tablespoon organic black tea leaves

- 5 pods green cardamom, crushed

- 1 piece of ginger, sliced

- 2 cloves

- 1 small piece of cinnamon bark

- 2 pints of water

- 1 cup milk

- 3 teaspoons organic cane sugar

Put all the ingredients in a large pan, bring to the boil and simmer for

five minutes. Strain and serve piping hot.

*Clare island punch*

- 1 large pinch of dried hibiscus flower

- 1 small pinch Bancha tea (black tea can be used as a substitute)

- 6 pods green cardamom, crushed

- 1 thumb size piece of ginger, finely sliced

- 3 cloves

- 1 cinnamon quill

- 3 seed black pepper, crushed

- 1 piece of liquorice root, crushed

- 1 sprinkle of allspice powder

Put all the ingredients in a large tea pot, cover with boiling water, and

keep on the stove for 10 minutes before serving.
