Guest guest
Hi Kartar, > ... if you put your nose in a bowl of milk and > try to breathe... Is there a mudra for this meditation? > Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan and the teachers who > follow him is not dangerous. I have been in this community for > 30 years, and no one has ever experienced any ill effects. I have had some weird experinces of something rushing up in me. I believe this happens when tense muscles that have been restricting a large blood vessel release - maybe its a rush of oxygen to the head. It may be something else like a hormone release - I don't know. I paused doing the yoga till it cleared - no problem. If I had kept going I dont know what would have happenned - but I am not the sort of person to hold my head under the milk! In the Alexander Technique world it is reported that students sometimes faint - this may be the same effect. It has no after effects. These events may be 'kundalini rising'. I could say that it was a mystical experience but choose to believe it is just something mechanical. But I don't actually know. It didn't put me off though. > Some people will have small effects and some will have large > effects, but all can be dealt with. I believe that too. It seems yoga especially in India can get weird! Different schools compete and make 'marketing claims' which are hard to believe (for me anyway). That their yoga helps you do astral projection, be in 2 places at the same time, levitate. They claim rivals yoga can cause 'kundalini events' that can destroy or damage you. Teachers claim you must come to them because if you practise elsewhere or alone you can unleash the powerful dangerous 'kundalini' forces. This stuff is TOSH! In my experience anyway. It is a big world with many mysteries. Psychotic people with delusions can be drawn to this stuff. If they can blame their problem on 'kundalini' then their 'problem' becomes something special not a 'mental illness'. Western understanding of mental problems is very shallow and partial so we can never know. Perhaps yoga helps 'psychotic' people to understand themselves better? But they may describe K yoga very differently from me. The differences come from them not from yoga. In a way I am slightly disappointed that K yoga is rather mundane. I have had wonderful experiences & beneficial change that I could not have believed possible a few years ago. I can cope with my messed up life so much better. But I have not found miracles or magic or supernatural forces. It comes from me - through hard work and discipline (errrm well disciplne is not my strongest point!). The surprise is how much junk my subconcious carries and just how long it takes to off-load it and what an emotional roller-coaster it is. If only there was a quick and easy way! Keith.
