Guest guest
I work a physically demanding job as a ramp agent for a major airline. When I finish, my legs and knees are always sore. I have never done yoga before. I am a stocky man. How do I get started?
Guest guest
Hello, I recommend the site: where you will find a lot of information on Kundalini Yoga, and online instruction, and books and DVD's. You can also search that site to see if there is a teacher or ashram near you. That would be the best way to learn and practice Kundalini Yoga. Do internet search on 'find kundalini yoga teacher' http://www.kundaliniyoga.com has a link to teacher search. If there is no local class there are people that sell DVD's such as whatsnew.html You can travel to workshops or go to a yoga festival or White Tantric day (magic!). I have only been to one festival (the European K yoga Festival) it was magic. You can buy books of kriyas and do them at home. If you dont have a local teacher you can try other types of yoga too - they arent as good of course!? !? I do an Ashtanga and a Hatha class but do K yoga at home every day. They maybe aren't as effective as K yoga but there is always some new awareness or benefit that comes from them. Doing K yoga 40 day kriyas is the best thing. Everything else is just to inspire & encourage you do do a regular daily practice. And to show you that if you really push yourself you get the most changes. When I do get to a class it always shows me that I could push myself harder at home. I also value meditation groups too. Proper yoga is all about meditation. I used to do a hard K yoga kriya at home before going go to a zen group - for me each boosted the other. Yoga is an 'all over' process. Maybe someone can advise you on something that will help your legs and knees best. Personally I think it may be best to explore the yoga in a general way and as you learn you will find what is best for you. At the start to concentrate on a specific problem risks slowing down your over all progress. Maximum benefits for everything including you knees comes from maximum 'all over' progress. Good luck. I am sure K yoga can do you a lot of good. Keith.
