Guest guest
Sat nam, I have been doing the nabhi kriya for 11 days and ever since I began it I have been feeling horrible physically and emotionally. Is this just a coincidence? I'd be interested in hearing others' experiences with this kriya. Thanks, Hanspreet Kaur
Guest guest
Sat Nam Hanspreet Kaur, Consider this a blessing, if you can. You're inspired and that's really great. The discomforts mean you are finally getting in touch with just how much " distance " there has been between your mind and body and your infinity. That said, are you chanting after doing this Kriya? If not, do so! Pick any chant and " work " your channels with the sound current. Sing with an open heart and an open mouth. What comes to mind at this moment is " Laya Yoga " by Sat Kartar on her " Listen " Cd. Pull the locks. You can listen to it at http://www.yogatech.com . there's plenty of chants to do, btw. There is emotional work that just cannot be ignored. Be *kind* to yourself and acknowledge, fully, your subtlety. The other option is finding a safe and nurturing place to experience the " distance " . You might also want to keep a journal. Keep track of what going on in your mind and the world unfolding in front of you. Yogiji would comfort is the disease, Pain is the cure. Guest guest
Sat nam, dear Hanspreet Kaur, My limited experience tells me that when a Kryia brings up a lot of garbage, that is exactly the kriya we need! I remember I had a problem when doing Nabhi Kriya because I was not doing the relaxation at the end for the full time (I think it asks for 10 - 15 minutes?) so a lot of energy was released from my nabhi area, but I was not allowing it to cool down and integrate. Things got much better when I stared doing the full relaxation followed by 7 - 11 minutes of long Ek Ong Kar meditation. In 40 days, I changed so much and became so strong, that people around me where not sure what was happening :-) Keep up and you will be kept up! Many blessings to you. Guest guest
Sat nam, Hanspreet, sorry you are feeling bad. Perhaps you should reduce the amount of time you are doing it, and see if that helps. Also - you don't say what emotions are up for you, but I have noticed, since I started doing it, I see my anger rise up sometimes, very sharply. Generally speaking, anger has been an issue for me. I think I have missed or messed up opportunities due to inappropriate anger, mis-directed anger. That is why I chose this particular kriya. So when I would feel anger, since I started this kriya, I felt " cheated " . Then I thought, maybe that is the idea, to be able to look more clearly at my anger. I think, since doing this kriya, I am responding a little more neutrally to my anger. However, I still find these 'anger outbursts' unpleasant. My thoughts for you are - don't stop. If things are coming up for you, then it is 'working'. Hope somebody with more experience than me will respond. Guest guest
I'm not knowlegable in the subject of nabhi kriha at all, at least not fully concious. Please (in-lighten) me to this. But I can say as long as its positive keep up with it. I tend to think of it as ,if you can understand the anger and learn to deal with it better, the less likley you are to be angered by that same thing, at least to that level of anger that is if you catch it in time. Like in meditation when you catch a thought drifting in deal with it. I probably would deal with those anger spikes like that, or you could just let it settle in, and let it disapate. But like every vapor, its bound to rain again, but next time will you carry your umbrella, or become the person that learns how to enjoy the rain, and possibly pack an extra change of clothes. One thing I have learned is not to push things away, and deal with things as they come, otherwise prepare for what comes later. Some people might say start from the root, others have sad that's a bad seed. But bad seeds grow. Guest guest
Sat nam Prem Siri Kaur, So glad you said this. I have been somwhat sloppy about the rest time, it's sometimes hard for me to lay still. So sometimes I rest at the end for 5 min or 10 min. However, what you say makes a lot of sense, so I'm going to make sure I rest at least 10. I also do 7 min of Long Eck Ong Kaar at the end. I love it! Glad to read that there were positive changes for your from this kriya. I also feel powerful changes going on, from this kriya, and from the Opportunities Meditation. Wahe guru. Guest guest
Sat nam, Thank you, Prem Siri Kaur, for the suggestion about the relaxation. I'm sure I haven't been relaxing for that long. I'll try the chanting too, although my family might get very annoyed by this. I do love chanting long Ek Ong Kars. Kartar Kaur, thanks for your comments and support. I'm not feeling anger, as you are. I'm feeling depression - like I'm hopelessly unqualified to be doing the things I do. It makes me feel lost and very small. On the other hand, this may be the sickness I caught from my daughter. But why did the sickness start the day I started the kriya and why does it continue for so long? Hmm. Guest guest
This is the same experience I've been working with lately, the physical feelings feels dark and sticky something like tar and quicksand. The emotional experience is like panic attacks, racing heart beating out of the chest, headachy, lethargy hyper-vigilance. I wasn't sure what was happening, but it seemed important, and it always happens after practicing (a big clue). I started keeping track of the experiences and just sort of wrote short notes about them in the journal (my safe place), sometimes things just pop up, so I carry a small pocket size with me, it has been very helpful. This is the kindest thing I've done for myself in a long time. I hope you try it. It will give you a deep sense on Home. Guest guest
Hi all, > But I can say as long as its positive keep up with it. What I have been taught and believe from my experience is:- Even if it is negative keep it up! The negative feelings are old repressed emotions leaving - at least they are that small part of them that seeps into conciousness - a lot more is going on 'under the hood'. The negative feelings are a sign of much good being done. Your ego/self may resist the changes - it may 'amplify' this negativity trying to get you to stop doing the kriya. > ... if you can understand the anger and learn to deal with it better, > the less likley you are to be angered by that same thing, at least > to that level of anger that is if you catch it in time. Yes understanding what triggers your anger (or any emotion) can weaken it's hold on you. But from my experience the wonderful think about K yoga is it stirs up our subconcious 'management systems'. They get rid of our knots of repression and we aren't concious of much of what is going on and we dont need to be. There is no need to understand - it is just our processing. When we repress things it is our subconcious working - we are only concious of part of what is going on - same when we 'un-repress' them. Maybe sometimes we get insights into our selves - they are valuable too - but it seems hard for some people (like me) to surrender ourselves to let these processes do their work without understanding much about them. It is an act of faith in our deepest self that these processes work for our good - this faith gets justified again and again. The deep relaxation after a kriya is when these processes settle down and become stronger. If you 'skip' the relaxation the things 'stirred up' by the kriya dont get the quietness in which they can sort themselves out best - you might as well 1/2 the kriya times and make sure you do 11 minutes relaxation! I found doing Nabhi Kriya (or similar hard one) then 11 minutes relaxation and then going to zen group was fabulous! The 'waking up' of zen was much better. I do lots of extra 'relaxation' - but that may just be my thing. Keith.
