Sat Nam! What I've often read in many books is that " active " gyan mudra (when you bend index finger under the thumb) is used.... " in the pratice of powerful pranayams or exercises " . PASSIVE is also a great way to get Nervous System feedback during/before/after meditation... You touch your two fingers together as lightly as possible - barely touching. And if you cannot keep it still or are shaky, you need to do some more calming meditations (i.e. left nostril breathing), and if it feels kinda of dull and you cannot feel any sensations or sensitivity, then do some energizing exercises (i.e. right nostril breathing). Voila! Instant feedback mechanism. And by the way, if you if can feel each individual molecule passing back and forth between your fingers while in perfect, statuesque stillness, then you should probably keep doing whatever it is you are doing!! -Fili
