I plan to begin the process toward a research grant to offer yoga for

brain injured from strokes, post surgery to those returning from the

war.

Anymore research sites to draw from regarding this issue?

Thanks, Amar Kaur ( Kathleen)

Hello kbrfnp,

I've been on this list for awhile, but never posted. I recently found a book

called Kundalini Yoga Meditations - Techniques Specific for Psychiatric

Disorders, Couples Therapy & Personal Growth by David S Shannahoff-Khalsa. It

includes chapters on treating anxiety, trauma and depression. I am jait begining

to go over what is in the book, but it looks promising.

I got a brain injury @ 10yrs ago and discovered KY about a year later. It is one

of very few things I've found to really affect/improve my brain function. Since

my injury, I became trained as an occupational therapy assistant and curently

work in Ohio with Seniors. I'm very interested in researching and teaching how

KY can help people with Brain dysfunction. Please let me know how I can help.

Sincerely,

Jen

I am a Massage Therapist. I have studied Cranial Sacral Therapy. I know that

this works for the kind of work you want to do. I am not sure about Yoga. I am

sure if you look at The Up ledger Institute. You might find something or someone

to help you.

I have been thinking about doing Kundalini Yoga with soldiers with PTSD.

Your topic and the replies to you are very interesting.

I hope you will post to this list what progress you make, if you have

a web site, etc, any way in which we can follow your work.

I expect you will have very good results.

Thank you for the feed back so far regarding this research plan.  I will check

out the book by David S. Shannahoff-Khalsa, and the upledger institute.

I have just joined a group called:  IAYT ( International assoication of yoga

therapists) that has some research topics to help.

Kartar Kaur, I will also be pulling in some PTSD aspects.  Do you know Sevak

from Phoenix?  I expect I will be working with him specifically on the war

related PTSD.

Yes, I will share as I move forward.  So far it has been VERY slow.......  I

expect that as I can find resources, this will move more quickly.

Thanks again,  Amar Kaur (Kathleen)

Please keep us posted on your progress and your work with brain

injuries and PTSD. I am hoping to work with Veteran's Village which

will serve veterans here in Humboldt County.
