Guest guest
Hello guys, I've been doing sodarshan for a while, and after carefully reading THE MIND by Yogi Bhajan, I noticed that he states you do 16 wha-hey-gurus during the kriya(pump on wha, on hey, and guru). I myself have no trouble doing 16 pumps, but 48 pumps seems to be a HUGE number. Am I misreading or is this how you do the kriya.
Guest guest
Satnam, Yup 48 pumps is correct. 16 whahaygurus with a pump each on wha, hay and guru. Work up to it slowly and you'll be doing 48 pumps in no time! love and light, louie Kundaliniyoga , " baleada1 " <baleada1 wrote: > > Hello guys, > > I've been doing sodarshan for a while, and after carefully reading THE > MIND by Yogi Bhajan, I noticed that he states you do 16 wha-hey-gurus > during the kriya(pump on wha, on hey, and guru). > I myself have no trouble doing 16 pumps, but 48 pumps seems to be a > HUGE number. Guest guest
Sat nam, I practiced the sodarshan chakra kriya for 40 days and I did not master the 48 pumps. Normally, I would start the session by doing 16 pumps and then try to increase to 48. Some days were very successful; others, not so much. Some days it was all I could do just to get up and be present for my sadhana and on those days I just did 16. I'm telling you this because even though I didn't master this, doing the kriya for 40 days changed my life for the better more than anything else has ever done. In a lot of ways I'm a completely different (better!) person than I was before. So, keep your intention and try, but don't be too discouraged about the 48 pumps, you will benefit from this regardless. peace, Hanspreet Kaur --- On Thu, 12/25/08, baleada1 <baleada1 wrote: baleada1 <baleada1 Kundalini Yoga Sodarshan pumping Kundaliniyoga Thursday, December 25, 2008, 11:26 PM Hello guys, I've been doing sodarshan for a while, and after carefully reading THE MIND by Yogi Bhajan, I noticed that he states you do 16 wha-hey-gurus during the kriya(pump on wha, on hey, and guru). Me too! I never got a smooth constant pumping rythm. I wondered if I was trying to go too fast at times to avoid running out of breath. Also I could never focus on the tip of my nose for long. It starts to hurt or feel really weird. And I got distracted so easily - I would find myself looking at a book in the book case or something. most odd but I think it may have had a big effect on me anyway. I was doing the Pituatry Gland Series at the same time so it is hard to tell which did what. Either way I am in pretty good spirits despite life being full of bad stuff and uncertainty. Guest guest
Sat Nam, I am taking the Kundalini Teachers Training in Chicago. Sodarshan chakra kriya is part of my sadhana practice. When I first tried it I could not do the 48 pumps, when I checked with my teacher I realized I was doing the pumps very slow and that is why I could never get to the 48 pumps, but now I do it faster and I get to the 48 pumps with out alot of struggle. I hope this helps, Sat Nam, Hari Narayan Kaur ________________________________ Stephanie Van Savage <vansavages Kundaliniyoga Monday, December 29, 2008 7:15:55 AM Re: Kundalini Yoga Sodarshan pumping Sat nam, I practiced the sodarshan chakra kriya for 40 days and I did not master the 48 pumps. Guest guest
Sat Nam, There a few tricks that help me when doing Sodarshan Chakra Kriya... First time when I did it, I stared with only 5 minutes, and increase one minute a day. This took off some of the pressure of not having enough air, and brought only a few minutes of meditation, but most of it was correct. In a week, I got to do 11 minutes and it felt great so I stayed there for some time…. Second, is something I recently learned from a great master, don NOT breath in fully, so you can easily pump de stomach. I still have to learn about this meditation, but this is what I observed and found useful in my practice. I hope it will help. Guest guest
Yes, it is much easier if you don't fully inflate yourself in preparation to start pumping! Also, while intentions are good, every once in a while time slips away. Before you know it, it's almost bedtime and you haven't done it yet- drat! Well, sodarshon can be done easily (a couple of hours) after lunch, but it's definitely a struggle after even a light dinner! So do it after a big dinner a couple of times and you will plan your day more carefully for sure! Also, there are 4 syllables to Wahay Guru; so you can experiment to find out where you want to relax your belly muscles and where you want the 3 inward pulls to be. I was taught to pull in on wa -he gu and let loose on -ru, but that just never felt right. For a long time I did pulls on wa-hay-gru, then relax, but now I like to let go on the Wa, and pull on the -hay gu-ru. I can't imagine this would matter on the effect, but for some reason I don't have to think to get the 3 pulls per rep times 16 reps = 48 per set. Can you believe 48 pumps takes about 30 seconds, so 31 minutes gives you about 3000 pumps (rounded off)! So 40 days means 120,000 pumps, or 40,000 wahay gurus! I read somewhere that Gurutej has done this everyday for over 18 years. WAHE GURU! > > > Sat Nam, > > There a few tricks that help me when doing Sodarshan Chakra Kriya... Guest guest
-Oops, I made a math error; (without a calculator) 16 wahay gurus/30 sec is 32/minute X 31 minutes= approximately 900 a day X 40 days= 36,000 or 900 X 365= approx. 330,000/year; 18 years about 6.5 Million wahay gurus. The point? Well, just how much of a jerk could you possibly still be after, oh, say, even only 100,000 wahay gurus? No wonder sodarshon is known for its transformational capabilities; it literally wears down our thickheadedness.

Guest guest
Sat Nam , I am at the last day of my 40 day Kriya for the 10 bodies. As I was finishing today the thought to start a new one came and Sodarshan Kriya came to mind. No wonder! What is the best way to start and what are the aims and goals of this Kriya. I have read alot about it in the past and was turned off to it as it always seemed too challenging. Guest guest
In one of my books, there's a Yogi Bhajan quote about sodarshon that I've been trying to find to share with you , about its transformational powers. Something to the effect that a 90 day meditation of 62 minutes/day will correct what's wrong with just about anyone, but most people don't need that much to accomplish that goal. Longtime practioners don't usually say too much about what they experienced with sodarshon, unfortunately. Guess it's too personal! I did 40 days of 31 minutes and have done 62 minutes a number of times, but not for more than a few days. Just haven't been ready, but it's on my to-do list. Ravi Singh says that if har is for prosperity, sodarshon is for super prosperity, and one wahay guru is equal to 40,000 hars!
Guest guest
I did SCK for 900 days 20-25mins a day. The first 120 days 5-11mins. The first 40 days the first release was difficult I cried over my parents divorce 15 years after, but the next day all the mental chatter was gone and there was silence, amazing!! and after 180 days I´d do the meditation and I´d feel balanced, with time the effects lessoned and a found myself still dealing with mental issues but the releases became easier. In the end I stopped because time became an issue and heat in my body was also an issue. Try mastering one minute breath first before SCK also work on lotus posture sitting first. I´ve read that sitting must be mastered before pranayams can attempted. Guest guest
after repeated advice from other people to master the sitting position, I decided to practice mastering the sitting position. In the last few days that I practiced, though i did not have any increase in duration of any practice, I did feel a different sensation, much like feeling a bit more calm. I know it has only been a few days to come up with significant conclusions, but so far the experience has been favorable.
