Guest guest
My culture leaves me a choice to keep quiet and live as who I am not. Perhaps it is the media and corporate greed from where it is taught. In these views I am torn, living outside my truth in a so-called " Norm " . Styles, trends, a new haircut, new friends - Fit in, feel astray or walk away? A hairy face, legs and arm pits too? Is to shave a way of life? Or a sell-out device? Are you joking? The skin is meant to be bare? What about the amazing force behind that hair? So what if people stare! Did you know it came from a woman for man to shave? Yes it came from a woman telling a man how to behave? Done everyday like a ritual to which one is enslaved Get a grip; and stand up for what is, instead of the rave, Hair grows everyday for a reason so it's time to be brave Calvin Klein jeans, squeezing tightly for a body retooled A life robbed of oxygen just to fit in and be cool? Shallow and backward breath high up in the chest Promoting fear, doubt, ill-health and anxiousness A skinny waist, a must, even with hunger suppressed? No power in the navel, a life that is stressed Where is happiness? Living in this illusive mess Be a Barbie or a Ken as long as it makes a friend Or a model from People, it's one way to blend Breast and brain cancer is on the rise – I wonder why? Antiperspirants, leaching aluminum into those pits is no lie? Microwaves and hot plastic, cell phones for ears too early to die Cancer eating us away so we are forced to pray? Or is it to pay? Or is it our true self that we've been led astray? From vodka to vineyard to valium, intoxicants for every shelf, These choices geared for profit to steer you away from yourself Pop a pill - Will it heal or will it kill? Alcohol, drugs, smoking? Poisons for pain or you just can't fulfill? What kind of person goes along with this corrupt façade? Fearful and shallow, living someone else's song?
