Satnaam

Dear friends,

I have heard how 3HO has helped many people come off of drugs thorugh the

years and also of a rehab program that they used successfully.

Up until now I have not known any drug abusers, but recently I have been in

contact with a young guy, aged 20 who admits he is a cannabis addict and

that he needs his daily fix, he spends all of his money on it and seems to

be ruining his relationships, losing his job and about to drop out of

University too. When we meditated together, the urge totally left him, the

guilt left him infact he felt the hand of God upon His head ( as we did

reiki + satnaam simran on him). But since then he has gone back even more

into drugs and unfortunately I do not see him too often. I am praying for

him as this is too complicated for a simple mind like mine!!

Any advice would be warmly received.

Sat Nam!

I know two books about this topic:

- Mending Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (Deva Singh Khalsa)

- Meditations for Addictive Behavior (Mukta Kaur Khalsa)

There you can find many good tips about kriyas, meditations and also

nutritional tips able to support who is trying to get rid of substance

abuse.

Blessings!

I am not an expert but a community worker, I would be trying for the person not

to drop for his activities, studies and relationships, there is probably a

reason underlying the lack of discipline and motivation. Habits have To change.

Using drugs is not an absolute in the life of a person and the person needs to

build around himself and explore other issues while functioning.

Marihuana is not a difficult drug to stop in the sense of having side effects, 2

weeks is a time but there has to be other carrot , other way of living his/her

life, support a person as a friend is a great committment, a continuous one and

I would see that he meets a counsellor especilized in young people and drugs,

for you, be broad minded, keep it cool, and read good info.

people that uses drugs as well as people that suffers domestic violence or abuse

tried sometimes several times to quit or going away

Sat Nam, dear Harjit,

I think that having your friend committed to a 40/90 days sadhana with a kriya

to rebuild the aura combined with pranayama should help.

Also, I would encourage him to pray in the way that is closest to his soul. He

may receive unexpected support through his own prayers :)

God bless your friend with strength, self-love, and harmony.

Dear Harjit,

The book _Kundalini Yoga Meditation, Techniques Specific for Psychiatric

Disorders, Couples Therapy & Personal Growth_ by David Shannahoff-Khalsa has a

chapter specifically for healing addictions. It also has a case history of two

people who were helped with these methods. (Both books are available on

www.yogatech.com.)

In the old days I seem to recall something about a diet of oranges and bananas

for some period of time, followed by the mung beans and rice diet... I never did

it myself, so don't know the details, but perhaps someone else here does. I

wonder if it might be in the book _Foods for Health and Healing_ by Yogi

Bhajan.... anybody know?

(Both books are available on www.yogatech.com.)

Blessings and good luck to your friend -

Take care and have a wonderful happy day,

Sat Darshan :-)

Satnaam Ji,

Thankyou to everyone who has sent a reply. And here is a reply to Akash

Ji'.

We just sat in sangat with some blessed souls. We closed our eyes and

started our internal simran, just repeating satnaam satnaam in the mind and

then it goes into the heart. This is how were were blessed with Gurprasad

(God's graceful) Naam. Tongue doesnt move, body doesnt move, body is

relaxed. This is what we call Naam Simran. The only technique is heartfelt

prayer to God and Guru to use this mind, body and soul for th highest divine

good of the person sitting infront. Then as we feel the Amrit (God Force /

Reiki) tingling in our hands, we go with the feeling and placed the hand on

his head. The only technique is to give mind, body and wealth to Guru, to

surrender everything, to become empty so that God can become everything and

do everything as He pleases.

Thanks for asking,
