Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have a bunch of general questions about daily practice that I'm hoping some people could provide some insight into. As I am active spiritually in some other practices (astrology, hermetic qabalah, western ceremonial magick, etc), I do already have a daily spiritual routine established. I just need to figure out how to incorporate KY into my spiritual growth. First, I've signed up for Guru Rattana's online video lessons. I've been following along with one new video each day. Would you recommend that I instead do the same one daily for a certain period of time before moving on? Or maybe do one with the video and then do some of the asanas from it on my own? Or maybe something entirely different? On a similar note: should I be tuning in before practicing each day, or is this really only before doing an entire kriya (which I've been doing daily anyway)? Also. I've noticed that KY teachers are usually able to do each asana nearly perfectly, but I'm guessing that they don't do every single asana every single day. Are there any kriyas (or rotations of kriyas) that can strengthen muscles and improve flexibility in such a way as to benefit the performance of most asanas I will encounter? Next, my best friend and fellow KY practitioner suffers from bipolar disorder with psychosis (or possibly schizophrenia). Would a kundalini awakening (or any part of kundalini yoga) be in any way less safe for him? He is currently unmedicated and mostly symptom-free as the symptoms only tend to manifest from November-February. Finally. . .once I complete all of the video lessons on Guru Rattana's site, what would be a good way to structure my practice so that I can take my development to the next level? I want to make steady progress and have a good outline of where to go next as I continue along my path, so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks so much everybody for your time! I look forward to any input you may have :-) Sacha
Guest guest
Dear Sacha, First, I've signed up for Guru Rattana's online video lessons. I've been following along with one new video each day. Would you recommend that I instead do the same one daily for a certain period of time before moving on? * There is no set rule. But we do a set for 40 days in a row to maximize the impact of that set. Pick a set that you wish to change a habit or acquire expanded awareness and experience. do it for 40 days. *Or you can do one set for a week. Or choose according to what you need that day. You will find sets that draw you in and are appropriate for your current energies and concerns. * We have about 25 sets up and are adding 2-3 classes a month. On a similar note: should I be tuning in before practicing each day, or is this really only before doing an entire kriya (which I've been doing daily anyway)? * tune in before doing any KY or mediation. * Also read the free on-line classes on www.kundaliniyoga.org Next, my best friend and fellow KY practitioner suffers from bipolar disorder with psychosis (or possibly schizophrenia). Would a kundalini awakening (or any part of kundalini yoga) be in any way less safe for him? He is currently unmedicated and mostly symptom-free as the symptoms only tend to manifest from November-February. * My limited experience with bipolar people is that any KY helps them alot to stay balanced. Finally. . .once I complete all of the video lessons on Guru Rattana's site, * 40 days each. what would be a good way to structure my practice so that I can take my development to the next level? * Pick other Kundalini kriyas and practice them for 40 days each. There are many books with kriyas. I want to make steady progress * If you practice eveyday you will make good progress. * Also read my monthly New Millienium Beings with suggestions on how to practice. Blessings, Guru Rattana :+)
