I dare not try and relate it since I'd probably get some of the details wrong. The gist of it is that we should not be pursuing such powers since use of them incurs karma unless we are extra special careful. So by " power over the self " I simply meant that meditation brings us to realization of our true essence which is the knowledge of the God within. That, to me, is power beyond all other powers. The other occult powers are higher manifestations of Maya and can entangle us. Hope this helps.

Another way i understood it is that it cultivates the neutral mind so as to make you less reactive to stressful situations and more reflective towards things. Guest guest
pull the navel muscle. do it gently though, because if you havent had experience on using abdominal-related kriyas, it will be a little painful after a while. Pull the abdomen with each successful syllable. There is a good discussion in the folowing forum, anmolmehta.com. It really did answer some of my questions.
