Sat Nam Friends

I am teaching now to one lady who is pregnant, 8 months. i am wondering if there

are any kriyas that are good for this stage, or meditations too. i guess also

post-natal kriyas will be useful for her soon!

Thank You

Bless You

Sat Nam!

I can suggest you two wonderful books: " Conscious Pregnancy - Yoga Manual "

(Tarn Taran Kaur) and " Bountiful, Beautiful, Blissful " (Gurmukh)

Squats are great to do while pregnant as they help to ready the area for the big

stretch.

If that baby hasn't been born yet (I'm just catching up on posts), one great

thing to do when pregnant, besides squats, is down dog. It takes gravity off

your pelvic, internal organs, and lower circulatory system and gives you a lot

of the benefits of an inverted pose (which aren't good after 3 months). It

encourages the baby to be in a good position for birth, too.

Although I was in good shape for my 3 pregnancies, I found I really couldn't do

most poses comfortably and safely almost immediately; by the end, just squats,

down dog, and standing cobra (lace hands behind the back and drop head and neck,

hold and breath deeply 3-4 times; then bend back a little further and repeat

breathing; then if you can bend to furthest stretch and repeat long deep

breathing; then come up very slowly. Baby pose is a natural counter pose.

I haven't read those books mentioned, so I don't know if they mention perineal

" massage " , but trust me, do this! 2-4 weeks before the due date, every day cover

your hands with olive oil and gently stretch the outer vaginal area so the " ring

of fire " won't be a surprise. The first few days it will feel terrible, and then

one day, surprise, no big deal! You'll be ready, and it can only help avoid

rips.
