When you engage in full metta loving-kindness, you connect with your true self -- radiant, loving awareness. It is the perfect loving emptiness of a master, and it is absolute freedom and bliss. For me, this began by taking the phrase " you are not what you imagine other people think you are " to heart. I then started seeing the ways in which I was centered not within myself, as my true self, but in an ego that " was " whatever I " imagined " (read: we don't really know what others are thinking, nor should we really care, but we spend a lot of energy guessing) other people saw me as. Loving kindness meditation is a great way to break that cycle and realize that you, just as you are, a cloud drifting across the sky, are perfectly imperfect and have all you need to be blissful in this moment and all those that will follow.
