Guest guest
Sat Nam, Someone has asked me about Kundalini yoga and meditation for a student with epilepsy. Yogi Bhajan did give a KY remedy for epilepsy. Does anyone know this? I have looked at David Shannahoff-Khalsa's book, but there is nothing specific there. Thanks. Blessings, Guru Rattana :+)
Guest guest
Sat Nam Guru Rattana, In the archives was a post regarding epilepsy...... Kundaliniyoga/message/21346 " I have a very dear buddy who overcame epilepsy due to car accident related head trauma. He had been epileptic for a good many years before he met Yogi Bhajan in the early '70's. Yogiji prescribed doing Long Sat Nams for 31 minutes a day for 40 days. In one year he was able to give up the anti-seizure medicine and hasn't had a seizure in over 30 years. Guest guest
Sat Naam! A word of CAUTION: Kundalini Yoga is not an illness-based system, and was never intended to be such. Please exercise extreme caution when advising students and friends and " prescribing " Kriyas and Meditations. Daily Sadhana will bring a complete reset of the pranic-endocrine-nervous systems with great health effects that will/may modify many health conditions. When a medical condition improves it is because of these total effects. There are many types of epilepsies, from post-traumatic, metabolic, to idiopathic (unknown cause), and there are many variables that will affect its beginning and its course. Please be very cautious when talking to students about this. " Kundalini Yoga is not inherently a therapeutic model, even though it has enormous therapeutic benefits. " Quote from the Aquarian Teacher Level One Instructor Textbook. Guest guest
Sat Nam! I've found this technique on " Yoga for Health and Healing " (it's also on " Meditation as Medecine " ): Sit on your left heel, right leg over the left, left foot flat on the floor, in hero pose. The hands are cupped, little fingers touching along their length, in front of the chest as if you were about to receive an offering. Chant like this continuously: SAA TAA NAA MAA Continue for up to 31 min. (3 min. and 11 min. are two good stopping places) Comments: this meditation is helpful in cases of epilepsy and for headaches. I hope it helps you.
