Guest guest
Sat nam everyone - I am currently on day 31 of a 40-day sadhana with 31 minutes of the kirtin kriya. I have been going through some very intense emotions recently and today the best I could muster was 30 minutes of the kriya while lying down on my back and almost falling asleep the whole time. I did it though! My question is, does this count or do I need to go back to day 1? I was feeling for a while that this kriya wasn't " working " and maybe I wasn't doing it right because I was feeling very, very unstable - but maybe this is a result of the practice? Thanks, Stephanie
Guest guest
Sat Naam Stephanie It counts! One stormy day while at sea does not change the destination as long as you get there. Just keep up. Points to check during your Kriya: I am sure other more experienced than me may/can add to this list. 1. Be sure your spine is straight in Easy Pose. 2. Be sure the repetition of the mantra takes about five seconds. Sometimes we tend to speed it up as we immerse into it. Keep a steady pace. 3. If in Gyan Mudra, be sure the elbows are straight. Don´t do like those nice glossy magazine pictures of Gyan Mudra with elbows spagetting down at forty five degrees. Keep them straignt. This will allow a better flow of the energy as you direct each finger´s seal and direction. 4. Touch the fingers with firm pressure rather than tapping on them. Again, we tend to tap as we go along. Try to avoid this. 5. The whisper periods is that one towards the Beloved, right at the " ears " .. Just be yourself whispering at the Beloved. 6. The silent part is the toughest since it happens around that time when the glandular and nervous system are starting to activate at the same time, usually the 11 minute point. This may induce a state of relaxation, sleepiness, that your mind can take as a break. If you find your mind, usually it is the Negative Mind trying to dig out memmories just for the heck of it, wondering, bring it back to focus by whispering, then to loud voice, then back to whisper and silence. The time period to do this " mind resetting " will depend on how fast it is reset. Do this as often as it takes to bring that mind back under your control until the Positive Mind takes over. During meditation, this is when the yogi, as he/she finds the mind wondering, gets into a mantra, usually Gayatri for a few times, then goes back into the meditative state. With Kirtan Kriya, you use the Kriya´s mantra. 7. Sometimes it is very useful to do pranayam before the Kriya so that there is a good prana-apana balance at the Navel Point. My favoritre is Nadi Cleansing for 7 to 11 minutes. 8. Always wear a white head cover. I hope this helps. Guest guest
Sat Nam Stephanie, You'd have to fall off the wagon for 72 hours to completely break the energy that you've set in motion.
