Guest guest
Hi and sat nam. I am a new lurker. Just starting out in Kundalini at the tender age of 54, I love it, but struggle to find the time to work in regular practice. I need to do this on my own, as I live in very rural Wisconsin, and don't have access to any kind of yoga teacher, much less a kundalini teacher. There is one person in Madison, but that is 3+ hours away. Any thoughts as to how to do this on my own? I have several books, and some dvds. But it is not like sitting down with a master who could work with me..(I nourish the dream someday of being able to teach this in my community and also to our immigrant population, as I speak Spanish and work very closely with them and their employers.... ) Any thoughts any of you might have would be most gratefully appreciated. Guest guest
HI, I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT YOU NEED A GURU OR TEACHER FOR GOING TO THE LAP OF GOD.WHEN YOU MOVE TO KUNDALINI TO YOU MOVE TO GO TO YOURSELF,YOUR NATURE,YOUR GOD.I DO NOT BELIEVE ANY OUTSIDE HELP IS NEEDED FOR THAT.THERE ARE GURUS AND INSTITUTES FOR TRAINING BUT THEY JUST GIVE YOU POSITIVITY AND CONFIDE NCE.WHY CAN YOU NOT HAVE THOSE THINGS YOURSEF.I BELIEVE I AM ON THIS PATH SINCE LAST TWENTY YEARS.MY JOURNEY ON THE PATH HAS CHANGED ME ALTOGATHER--PHYSICALLY,MENTALLY,SPIRITUALLY.I AM HAPPY WITH WHAT I HAVE GOT.ONE CAN NEVER REACH THE ULTIMATE,WHICH IS GOD HIMSELF,UNTILL HE DESIRES.HIS DESIRE IS OBVIOUSLY NOT CAUSED BY GURUS.AND YOU DO NOT NEED TRAINER FOR HAVING GOD'S GRACE AND BLESSINGS? I DO NOT KNOW IF I HAVE GUIDED YOU OR CONFUSED YOU.DO REPOND . On 6/24/09, Shaun J. Duvall <shaunjd wrote: > > > > > > Hi and sat nam. > > I am a new lurker. Guest guest
Sat Nam Sylvia, That is a fascinating quote you have at the bottom of your mail. It makes me think, not sure I understand what it means? Guest guest
Janet, Thanks for sharing your thoughts... I haven't heard Yogi Bhajan's explanation of this quote, but as you say, it makes one think... (maybe that's the idea...) I'm sure that everyone has their own interpretation. It would be interesting to have a discussion group, and to hear what this quote means to others. What first came to me when I first saw this quote (which I encountered on my Yogi Bhajan Everyday calendar earlier this month), was that... God is me, when I look at myself in the mirror, I need to remember that. Stop being hard on myself (critical, unforgiving, etc). There is something very beautiful inside, and if I can remember that, then the inner beauty will reflect on the outside. The same thing goes for when I look at each person I encounter. I need to to remember that God is within them also, and stop being critical, unforgiving, judgmental, etc... about their actions or behaviors. It is only the reflection of what is going on inside them. Perhaps when they behave this way, they are not feeling the God inside them. Bless them instead of criticizing them. Pray that they can come to know the God inside them. Peace and Blessings to All... Sylvia " God within you must have the courage to relate and face the God outside of you. Outside is the reflection. Inside is the reality. " Yogi Bhajan
Guest guest
Hi there, > WHEN YOU MOVE TO KUNDALINI TO YOU MOVE TO GO TO > YOURSELF,YOUR NATURE,YOUR GOD. I think there are plenty of people like me that benefit from teachers - to get us past blocks and issues we find hard to face. Thanks for your post but please write in little letters - many people regard writing in in big letters as shouting. To all on this list - can people please 'clip' their posts when replying. Keith Moderator: Sat Nam ji's We agree with Keith on the caps. Please, i know some don't realize but its harsh on the eyes too, and lots of us 'see' screaming. His other comment about clipping your 'reply' at the bottom helps others focus on what the post is replying to etc.. Both of these make it easier on everyone else. thanks! Blessings... Guest guest
Sat Nam Shaun, I also do not have a teacher, but rely on dvds, books and this website to learn KY. I encourage you to keep up and you will be kept up...... There is beginning to be alot of info on the internet and you can learn alot on your own. I love Ravi and Ana Brett videos. In order to make sure you keep up your daily practice I recommend committing to a 40 days of a particular meditation or practice. Then it's not a question of if you will do it but when. If you pick a meditation and do it each day that will get you on the mat. Then even if you only have 10 min.s one day that's better than nothing and if you do 10 mins then your more likely to say what the heck I can go on a little longer.......
