Guest guest
I've not done teacher training, but have been doing the KY myself with videos and books for 1.5 years. A friend who teaches Hatha Yoga wants me to teach a special KY class for her this week. I feel real good about it and want it to be special because many of these people have probably never been introduced to KY. I'm a little nervous but I love the yoga so much I don't see how they could not love it too. That said, Does anyone have any advice for me before my first class and do you have any suggestions on what kind of material I should present for a first introduction to KY? I want to leave them feeling energized and radiant. Thanks for any advise. Peace, Sail
Guest guest
Do you have any of the Kundalini Manuals? There are numerous manuals written for all levels of practice. Guest guest
Sat Nam! The first thing that I've noticed is the quote " I feel real good about it and want it to be special " .... We all would like to be special, to do something special.....but these are just some ego-talks and Yogi Bhajan gave us the way to avoid them: just tune into the Adi Mantra and let the teachings flow through you. Speaking of practice, when I start working with a new group I prefer to share the kriyas working on the spine: they are pretty easy to practice and then they give me a good point of view to know who is in front of me. And then, I suggest you to confront your experience with other teachers: this is another important key to grow. ......just my 2 cents ;-) Blessings! Guest guest
I have Guru Rattana's Journey to a Heart Centered World. I'll be taking some sets from there. I think I'll start with the basic spinal series and then maybe do a Heart Center Set, not sure which one. Guest guest
Dear Sail, How long is your class? Unless it is over 1 1/2 hours one set is enough, plus an 11 minute meditatation. Don't try to cram too much in the first class, especially if these are beginners. Guest guest
Sat Nam! Maybe because I teach from not long ago (in september it will be the 5th year) I really like to confront my experiences with all the other teachers I have the chance to meet: I think that this is the best way to grow up (I can't imagine a teacher just by himself/herself or just with his/her books). Guest guest
Sat Nam! Easily I've used a wrong word.......I took from the italian-english vocabulary the correspondant for " compare " ..........I meant the importance of the sangat where you can always find a different point of view to consider for your own growth. Guest guest
OK, That I understand. (smile) I hope you know that I did not mean to criticize your English. Quite the opposite. I am amazed at how well other people learn to speak English, considering that I spent 4 yrs studying French [which of course is a language in the same family as English] and still can speak it very brokenly!
