Hello Everybody I am new in the group.

This is a question for people who know about Sodarshan Chakra Kriya.

I am beginner with Kundalini Yoga. I've been practicing for 2 months practicing

in a group 2 times a week and I already did the 40 days of awakening the 10

bodies.

I really want to begin now with Sodarshan Chakra Kriya. Actually, I am already

in my 4th day doing it for 11 minutes and I have no problems at all to complete

the cycles of 48 pumps. I feel it confortable. Because I can sostain the

breathing 1 minute without problem.

So, The question is the next: some people told me Sodarshan is for advanced and

not for beginners because could be dangerous. So that I should do some not so

advanced kriyas before. But they did not tell me why.

-It is true?

-Beginners can have problems with this kriya?

-There are problems or traumas reported for beginners trying to do it?

-For What level is officially reccommended this Kriya ? What Jogui -Bhajan says

about it?

What I only saw is that beginners should begin with less than 11 minutes, but

nothing else.

So please I will appreciate any answer because after these comments I am affraid

now that could be dangerous, and if I do it is to be better of health and not

worst.

I am happy to find this group when people practicing KY can help eachother

sharing info.

Best regards,

Pablo.-

I don't think that there is any problem doing Sudarshan kriya as beginner. In

" Art of Living " they start with this kriya later they refine it further. Start

with three step pranayam and then do this kriya. In case you are not aware of

three step pranayam then better join Art of Living. I think you can do this

kriya even after doing simple warm up and breathing exercises.

Blessings to all

Sunil

Firstly, Art of Living´s pranayam ¨Sudarshan Kriya¨ is completely

different ( a form of hyperventilation or breathwork similar to rebirthing)

from Sodarshan Chakra Kriya taught in kundalini yoga which involves pumping the

navel 48 times on each syllable of wa-hay-guru. I´ve done this kriya 900+

days. Start with 5mins your first 40 days then add a minute every two weeks.

Days where you don´t have time do 5minutes to maintain the pattern of energy.

By day 38-39 you will be hating this meditation because your ego will resist the

change. By day 40 you will have an emotional release and wonder why you´ve

been feeling upset. This process will continue every 40 days and your releases

become easier. Expect nothing and don´t become attached to attaining results.

SCK can be beautiful and boring. Everyday is different.Classical text suggest

sitting must be mastered first and a series of shat karmas or cleaning

processes before pranayam  can be

attempted with success. Yes traumas and old wounds will invariablely come up.

Meditation is cleaning house. Best of luck! A raw foods diet I must say has

really helped my practice. and is the easiest way in my opnion to release old

patterns and live with joy. -Chris
