Guest guest
Sat nam, ji. Have we registered for Summer Solstice yet, the yoga retreat around which Yogi Bhajan recommended we revolve our life each year? http://www.3ho.org One of the treats of Solstice is the First Saturday, Peace Prayer Day: http://www.peacecereal.com/PeacePeople/PeacePrayerDay.html. Yogi Tea, the world's largest organic tea company, and Peace Cereal give on that day an award to the " Person of Peace. " Not that this humble could influence their decision making this year or in future years, but whom do you think deserves this award? Which Man or Woman has done more than others to manifest peace, or the absence of violence? I welcome " posts " on this, if anyone wishes to participate? I'll start. My nominees are: 1. Mark Frazier, CEO of Open World, which works with governments in developing countries to allow regional entrepreneurship and innovative schooling, and partnerships between them and western interests (http://www.OpenWorld.com); 2. Mary Ruwart, author of " Healing Our World, " a comprehensive guide to replacing the aggression that suffocates our world with a system based on cooperation (http://www.ruwart.com/Pages/Home/); 3. Michael Strong, an education entrepreneur and philosopher who with Whole Foods CEO John Mackey started a movement called FLOW, to unite creative and entrepreneurial souls of different political persuasions, for peace and prosperity (http://www.FLOWidealism.org); 4. John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods, who almost singlehandedly has brought healthy food to the masses who otherwise may not have tried something " different " - check out Mackey's blog: http://www.wholefoods.com/blogs/jm/; 5. Dr. Ron Paul, a congressman from " the right " who refuses to support either Wars overseas (against Iraq) or Wars here at home (against drugs, privacy, or creative entrepreneurship). Check out his essay at Anti-War.com: http://www.antiwar.com/paul/?articleid=10444; and 6. Gary Null, who's helping folks improve their diets, and is taking lots of hits from mainstream medicine special interests for his persistent advocacy: (http://www.garynull.com/). So, that's a start, and I'm sure a bit controversial. But we're in trying times - " May your life be interesting " . And if anyone thinks this post is too political, you're right. But the Person of Peace Award is a part of Peace Prayer Day, which is part of the Solstice yoga retreat that Yogi Bhajan recommended more than any other event. And how can we avoid politics, a word that stems from " poli, " the " people, " and connotes " how people organize themselves? " We yogis get grand insights from our practice, and Yogi Bhajan wanted us to be " householders, " or citizens of society, not reclusive societal rejectionists. So let's use our yogic insight and make the world a better place! AND DON'T FORGET TO REGISTER FOR SOLSTICE (HTTP://WWW.3HO.ORG) AND RESERVE YOUR FLIGHTS SOON Wahe guru, Amar Atma Washington, DC
