Guest guest
Thank you John for posting the NY times article. Dr. Onkar Bindra deserves most of the credit for keeping this battle going. I was blessed to be part of the 20 or so Sikhs who spoke on behalf of our cause. Siri Pritam Kaur was there too. We presented our case before the CA Board of Education. While a picture may seem minor, the implications are big. It is important to educate others, especially children, regarding who we are and what we represent. Sikhs have been highly misunderstood by society and poorly represented in the media. It was nice to see a more positive representation in the newspapers. It was also nice to finally be victorious. I encourage all of you to get involved with whatever your cause is. Persistance will pay off. It's important to lend your voice to what you believe in - that's why I think exchanges like this are good. I think it was Satsimran who said - what a great and wonderfully diverse community we are made of... May God and Guru guide your way on.
