Guest guest
Sat Nam, This weekend I'm working with a family who has been having quite a bit of health problems. I did a lot of distance meditations through Sandi's radiation treatment for cancer. Now the doctors are saying her bones and spine have been thined from the radiation, she has hairline fracture in her hip and needs a hip joint replacement; they won't do it because she has uncontrolled asthma. Additionally, Sandi's father requires blood transfusions for his anemia. I'll be working with this family in person so they have the tools to use on their own. Any recommendations would be helpful. Thank you, Suchas Kaur
Guest guest
Have you tried color therapy? Having everyone surround themselves in various shades of white, gold, green, and indigo, perhaps even red, to increase the vibration of health, prosperity, and healing energy in their environment. This includes plants, clothes, fabrics, and food. Also, you could use heart chakra kriyas to help with the asthma. Asthma implies suppression-crying, feeling stifled so that should be addressed. For anemia, try getting him to confront any issues of not feeling good enough, joylessness, and/or fear of life. What kind of nutrition therapy is Sandi on? She could really use a wholefoods approach. No dairy, caffeine, refined sugar, or wheat products, lots of green smoothies (but check with the doctors about her meds and vitamin K contraindications), immune building foods. The father could benefit from herb therapy and a diet including iron and vitamin c-rich foods. His B12 levels should be tested as anemics sometimes have low levels. And music therapy-have them raise the vibration of their home by playing the healing mantras around the clock, or at least for a few hours a day and especially before they go to sleep. Even playing at a low volume so as not to disturb their sleep could be beneficial. A lot of questions... Where do they live? Could their home enviroment aggravate their health issues? Do they have plants, humidifiers, air purifiers? What is the water/air quality like? What kind of household cleaning and bodycare products do they use? Smokers? Does the father eat fish? Do they have mold? Pets? These issues affect asthmatics specifically but once addressed could really help Sandi. keep us posted as to what you do and their progress -- Breathe Deeply, Melissa D. Guest guest
Dear Suchas Kaur: If you saw my note about the way to handle MS, it is the same for everything that plagues us. Those are the tools. Ignore the problems, feel what the body feels like (without all the judgments that come), and tune in to God, beauty, gratefulness. For you, simply hold the space for them that they are filled with prana, not filled with disease. Where our thoughts and emotions are is what we create. The first time, you may listen to their issues and fears. Then invite them to let them go. Chant Wahe Guru with them or RA MA DA SA SA SE SO HUNG, don't think of it as a healing meditation, it really means SUN MOON EARTH INFINITE VASTNESS, I AM ALL THAT! You see the difference? Yes it is used for healing because we tune in to how vast we truly are not to what we want to heal! Blessings, Awtar Singh
Guest guest
Sat Nam. I think we need to be careful putting diagnosis and people’s opinions about cures and remedies for diseases in this e-mail group. First of all we don’t know the specifics of each person’s diagnosis; even if we did, we are not doctors, do not know what medical treatment they have had so far, and as KY teachers we are not qualified to give medical advice. In teacher training that is one of the first things we learn. If someone is a doctor whether allopathic, homeopathic, naturpathic or auryvedic I think it is fine for them to let people know they can get in touch with them and deal with them as they would any other patient, but to give advice based on an e-mail I think is very irresponsible. Guest guest
Sat Nam Suchas Kaur, Without knowing more, I would say that they should use guggulu to help strengthen the bones. GuruBandhu S. Guest guest
I echo Satsimran's concern about diagnosis and treatment by email. Any suggestions I have ever posted were meant to be general, not for the individual case. Hopefully, they are for encouragement and inspiration, and never taken as a prescription. Many common yoga and health recommendations can be safely used, and tried out by the individual, for overall health enhancement. Treatment of disease should involve personal contact with a professional practitioner. Karta Purkh Singh Eugene, Oregon
