Guest guest
Sat Nam. Siri Singh Sahib/Yogi Bhajan left for humanity many ways to be healthy, happy and holy. I would like to let you know one of those ways that has been around since the 1980's but has been just under most people awareness. Recitation of a shabad 11,000 time in one week; kind of like a summer solstice, a little like white tantric, perhaps like 3 years of daily mediation gracefully squeeze into 7 days. By God's Grace and a little…lots of practical devotion of a few zestful people a meditation course which chants the Guru Gobind Singh, Re-Man Shabad from the Dasam Granth has been occurring once a year for the last 5 years. Among the many blessing of chanting this shabad is the " Golden Aura " …as Yogi Bhajan said… " like a Golden Buddha " . The course was held the end of February this year in India at the Sri Aurobindo ashram in Rishikesh. Over hundred people from all over the world attended; the seniors from the Miri Piri Academy have made this their senior project. I had the personal delight of sitting next to them in the meditation hall…they were inspiring, a great blend of…everything you need to complete chanting 13-16 hours per day for 7 days. I am simple one of many who has attended and is amazed, jubilant and thankful for having made the commitment to go...so if you made it this far in reading this post…keep watch for information, invitation and PR for next years Re Man meditation course. If you attended 2007 or any other year, add to this post…and…yes, plan your trip to India so you have extra time to visit the Golden Temple, shop for shawls and gems…attend the International Yoga Festival, maybe one year the course can be scheduled when the snow has melted in the lower passes of the Himalayas and we can go to Hemkunt Sahib, where Guru Gobind Singh meditated in his previous life as a Rishi. Below is the translation of the Guru Gobind Singh shabad. We chanting using Baliji version; Guru Shabad Singh and Snatam Kaur each have musical versions…there are likely others. Oh my mind practice yoga in this way. Let Truth be your horn, sincerity your necklace, and meditation the ashes you apply to your body. Make self-restraint your harp, and the Naam, the Name of the Lord, your support. Vibrate the strings of the Sound Current, and listen to the sweet sound of the Lord. The waves of sweet sound bring ecstasy, and through the Songs of the Lord, spiritual wisdom arises. The demons and the demi-gods in their chariots are amazed, and the silent sages are intoxicated with delight. So instruct your soul, wear the loin-cloth of self-restraint, and chant the name of the Lord, even when you are silent. In this way, your body shall remain forever golden, and death shall never approach you.
