Krishna Kaur's work with incarcerated youth in the United States, and her mission to train yoga teachers in Ghana, Africa, recently caught the eye of fellow yogi Forrest Whitaker. Prior to dedicating herself to yoga, Krishna Kaur had a very successful career in the theater, including work in Broadway hits. She is certified by 3HO Foundation and the Kundalini Research Institute as a Kundalini Yoga Teacher and Trainer, and opened The Kundalini Yoga Center on 53rd Street and Broadway in L.A. in 1971. For the past eleven years, she's taught yoga to urban and incarcerated youth. She founded Yoga for Youth and now trains yoga teachers to more effectively expose " urban " teens to the ancient art and science of yoga. Krishna is President and founding member of the International Association of Black Yoga Teachers (IAYBT), which supports black yoga teachers and makes yoga available to Inner Cities communities.
