Being a Householder implies engagement in societal matters

This is not a political , but it's impossible to

depoliticize everything.

 

Politics, after all, stems from the Greek root " poli, " which denotes

" The People, " and connotes " How the People Organize Themselves. "

Everything we do impacts that organization, so politics is unavoidably

a part of life. Indeed, Yogi Bhajan wanted kundalini yogis to be

" householders, " involved in society, not hermits, rejecting societal

involvement.

 

Further, politics impacts the practice of yoga. Witness the proposal

of the Government's " Food and Drug Administration, " which at the

behest of its big business backers (every arm of government is always,

always has been, and always will be, controlled by the powerful, not

the weak) has proposed a smothering regulatory regime with respect to

natural health care products, goods and services, including yoga props.
