Thanks !While politics turns most off - justifiably - it's inescapable, given the fact it deals with how people organize themselves ("poli" is Greek for "the people"). And politics is infused in kundalini yoga. Yogi Bhajan broke with tradition and gave this yoga to the masses - no longer would it be a yoga reserved to a privileged group, secret. YB "democratized" kundalini yoga, spreading it to the people. And as a Sikh, Yogi Bhajan's taking the leading role in kundalini yoga was in effect political, since Sikhs have rejected yoga for decades, partly as a "political" response to the political repression from the Brahman ruling priestly caste. It's clear

several of the Sikh gurus from the 1500-1700 period practiced yoga and meditation. And even your mention of the Declaration of Independence in a yoga forum is significant. That's because two hundred years before Jefferson declared that the only just government was one that respected all men's Natural Rights, Guru Nanak in the year 1500 declared the same thing - but applied it also to WOMEN!From my readings, three things must be spread in society as we enter the Aquarian Age. First, as the Vedas say, "Liberty is the ideal and any interference in that is slavery." Fulfilling this mantra will allow each of us to "live and let live," a phrase also from the Vedas.Second, we need to invite more of our fellow humans to release themselves into their "liberation," their "mukunday." By rising above the petty demands of maya, we can facilitate more spirituality, thus lessening the pressure to conform or keep "up with the

Joneses."Finally, we need to tolerate more dissident opinions, to allow "Truth" to bring "udaray," enlightenment. Powerful interests, oligopolizing every part of humanity's train of energies, have an "interest" in suppressing creativity. We must, ethically, resist the temptation to join in the laughter aimed at those who are "different." To this end, I offer the following site to the explorers in this group:http://www.neilfreer.com/Humbly submitted,Amar Atma----------------------rejecting "posts," and Politics of Vedas Posted by: "estyra" estyra goldenyogagarden Mon May 14, 2007 10:12 pm (PST) Dear Atmar Atma Thank you for the 'Politics of the Vedas' ; actually some of it seems to have echoes in the Declaration if Independence. It gives me courage. And thank you for

your 'So, "post" away, as long as your offerings come from your heart, the chakra at which we need to shine for peace and prosperity.' While many may long for the day when present day politicians and government agencies have vedic type wisdom and cease to be 'little men', we can progress by experimenting with what is possible.
