Any yogic astrologers in the group? If so, care to comment on Deepak

Chopra's thoughts on the value of astrology, which seems to be a part

of the world of yoga and humanology?

'Should I Listen to an Astrologer?'

Question:

How does one let go of ideas that were implanted in our minds at such

a young age? For example, when I was in the 7th grade, an astrologer

told me that I would have a nervous breakdown at 35. All these years,

I have been plagued by anxiety and now as I approach my 35th birthday,

it's getting worse.

Answer:

First of all, any astrologer who tells you that you are going to have

a nervous breakdown, without telling you what you can do to avoid or

eliminate the problem beforehand, is doing you a grave disservice.

The value of an astrological reading is to discover the likelihood of

certain potentialities and then to provide information and techniques

to help you manifest the outcome that you actually want. It should

empower you with knowledge of how to shape your destiny, not make you

fatalistic about it.

Don't allow your anxiety about this prediction of a nervous breakdown

to manifest the very thing you fear. If you have psychological issues

and defenses that you think might make you susceptible to a nervous

breakdown, then work on those issues now to develop the emotional

strength and resiliency you need to face whatever the future brings.

Love,

Deepak

I agree with Deepak Chopra's response. The planets are energies, and we

choose how to work with them.

When I give an astrological reading to someone, I tell them that I

speak the language of the planets, but they have the life. We need to

brainstorm together to see how to harness the planetary energies to

best serve their situation and the universe.

I agree that the astrologer who predicted someone's nervous breakdown

at age 35 was doing them a disservice. No doubt, the planet Uranus was

involved, and might have driven someone to a nervous breakdown if they

had no release for their energy. If I saw a difficult Uranus transit

coming up, though, I would cover various ways that I thought that

energy might manifest, and encourage the person to roll with unexpected

changes, and do whatever they could to liberate themselves from

oppressive situations. Kundalini yoga is an incredible adjunct, because

it keeps the energy from stagnating.

Astrology is a wonderful guide. The planetary energies live in us, and

we need to honor them and give them what they need. Saturn needs

structure. The moon needs nurturance. Mercury needs intellectual

stimulation, etc. Feed the planets what they require, and they will

feed you.

I have practiced astrology for over twenty five years, but have

recently been amazed by the gifts the planets have given us. What a

miracle it is that, at the time of birth, the planets make an imprint

on us that is a unique combination of qualities, gifts and challenges,

all to serve the unfolding of the universe. We are blessed to work with

such energies.

An astrologer who merely predicts the future is taking away a person's

power to co-create his or her life in conjunction with the planets. But

to avoid saying anything negative does the person a disservice, as

well. Some transits, for example, Pluto squaring Mars, may result in

accidents if not approached consciously. (I tore a ligament in a knee

skiing during one of them, so I take these times seriously). It would

be useful for an astrologer to offer ways to free repressed anger and

frustration so that an accident doesn't result. Again, kundalini yoga

can come to the rescue.

I would love to do an astrological reading for anyone who is

interested. It's a field near and dear to my heart.

Love,

Jagat Kaur

Sat Nam. I appreciate your approach to Astrology. I read many years ago and have taken to heart the advice that "The stars impel, they do not compel." They provide a useful weather report--- and as we know, weather reports are not always 100% accurate, but we can choose to "rise above the storm" consciously as the occasion occurs. Horoscopes provide a pattern of the karmic lessons our soul chooses to learn in this lifetime. Meditation, the practice of Kundalini Yoga, dedication to a spiritual path can mitigate many otherwise severe aspects.

Dear Jagat Kaur,

Thank you for that wonderful explanation about Astrology. I believe

in it, but it is important who interprets it for you, and how it can

help you in your life.

I am interested in getting my progressed chart looked at for the next

6 month period as I am entering into a new business.

Kindly contact me and let me know your fees, etc.

Blessings, Soorya
