You can rent a car in San Jose if you wish to have your own transportation.Language:Spanish is the language primarily spoken. You will find that many people speak English as a second language and should not have troubles communicating with locals. Voltage is 110volts like North America. -Binoculars, particularly if you are a bird and wild life enthusiast. -We recommend clothing appropriate for warm beach weather and comfortable clothing for hanging out at the lodge and attending workshops. A hooded windbreaker (rain gear - remember we will be in primary rainforest, it will rain sometimes), small umbrella, sun hat, swimsuit, and comfortable walking shoes. Lightweight water-resistant sneakers or hiking boots, and sandals or other comfortable beach shoes. A flashlight and/or headlamp for the nights. The nights can get cool so one or two long sleeve shirts will be plenty.-Basic First Aid Kit-Toiletries such as sunscreen, lotion, insect repellent, soap, and shampoo & conditioner-Yoga mat, blanket, and meditation shawl Traveling To and From Costa Rica: You will be arriving and departing the San Jose Airport, Costa Rica. You will need to arrive in Costa Rica the day before the actual retreat begins, October 6th. When you arrive to the airport, a driver will be waiting for and take you to the Don Carlos Hotel, in the museum district of San Jose. According to what time you arrive you may have the opportunity to explore San Jose, Costa Rica's capital. On the morning of the 7th a private bus will pick up everyone attending the retreat and drive you to our destination. In the four hour drive to Playa Chiquita you will drive through a couple different Eco systems from the beautiful cloud forest to the Costa Rican flat lands – where most of Costa Rica's banana's and pineapples come from. Halfway the bus will stop at an outdoor café/restaurant, for you to get something to eat and use the restroom. The morning of the 14th the private bus will arrive in Playa Chiquita to take everyone back to the Don Carols Hotel or the airport. You must arrive to the airport two hours before you departure. This is an enforced law for international travel into the USA. We suggest you stay that the Dan Carols the night of October 14th and depart October 15th and a hired driver will insure you timely arrive to the airport. Reserve Your Transfers and Hotel: To reserve your transfer to and from the airport to Don Carlos Hotel and to Playa Chiquita Eco Lodge please contact: Lily UlateCosta Rica Online Travel800-608-3119The reservation is under Namaste Yoga RetreatIf you wish to stay in Costa Rica longer Lily can help you with tranportation, accommodations and recommendations. Driving in Costa Rica: Lily with Costa Rica Online Travel can arrange a rental car for you. A driver will pick you up at the airport and take you to the rental agency. Directions to Playa Chiquita Eco Lodge:From downtown San Jose, take " calle 3 " (3rd street) North and follow the signs for Limon. There is only one road all the way there, about 2.5 - 3-hour drive. This route will take you through the cloud forest area and very often you will hit a little rain - but it is a gorgeous ride! ** Ask whoever is helping you at the car rental agancy to highlight a map for you to get through San Jose and go towards Limon. This will be very helpful for we have found driving in San Jose to be a little tricky. When you get to Limon you will continue pass the cemetery and you will start to come into a more populated area. Watch for signs for " Sixaola " or " Cahuita " . At the light you will make a right hand turn at a small corner. After the turn and pass the small bridge is a straight road all the way. From Limon/Cahuita, Playa Chiquita is about 45 minutes. When approaching Puerto Viejo the road will turn from paved to dirt. When you get to Puerto Viejo, follow the main road through the town. You will pass over several little one-lane bridges and soon you will see a sign for Play Chiquita. The Playa Chiquita Eco Lodge will be up a short ways on your right. There is very little street lighting at night; we suggest you only travel during the day. Join Us Special InviteMy family and I have been to Costa Rica a few times now and have been captured by the beauty of the land and people. Namaste,~Nicole owner/partner & motherNamaste Yoga & Healing Center Traveling with Children Playa Chiquita is a charming small community has attracted many families with young children. The beaches offer safe swimming with natural pools forming within the exposed coral reefs at low tides. Other then the spectacular beach, the community of Playa Chiquita is what attracts many of its residents. A small Waldorf style school has been established, where many of the children attend everyday. Because of the international community, most children speak two, three, sometimes four languages at a young age. I will be bringing my 3 year old daughter, Sage, along on our retreat. This will be her third trip to Costa Rica and she would not miss it. I will be offering childcare while you're in your retreat workshops. With my time with your children we will be praciting yoga (I was tranined by Shakta!), playing at the playgrounds at the Waldorf school, arts & crafts & storytime.Cost per child is $500This includes accommodations, daily breakfast, Dinner three nights and time with me & Sage.If you have any questions about traveling with children in Costa Rica or would like to talk with me more, please call me at 828.216.7333 (my cell) or email me at NamasteAshevilleI look forward to sharing with your children all the joy & wonder Sage and I have found in beautiful Costa Rica.~Nicole Namaste Yoga & Healing Center57 Broadway StreetAsheville, North Carolina28801828-253-6985www.namasteasheville.comemail: namasteasheville Subscribe Un Preferences Send to a Friend Report Spam
