Guest guest
Sat Nam, The following was forwarded to me by a friend: FDA ANNOUNCES PLAN TO ELIMINATE VITAMIN COMPANIES By Byron J. Richards, CCN June 27, 2007 The FDA, emboldened by its transformation into a drug company, has embarked upon an anti-American plan of interfering with business and intentionally eliminating various dietary supplement companies from the market. The FDA announcement came on Friday, June 22, 2007 under the guise of a final rule for dietary supplement good manufacturing practices (CGMPs). Within this 800 page rule the FDA states, " We find that this final rule will have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities.... Establishments with above average costs, and even establishments with average costs, could be hard pressed to continue to operate. Some of these may decide it is too costly and either change product lines or go out of business.... 140 very small [less than 20 employees] and 32 small dietary supplement manufacturers [less than 500 employees] will be at risk of going out of business.... costs per establishment are proportionally higher for very small than for large establishments....The regulatory costs of this final rule will also discourage new small businesses from entering the industry. " This FDA rule will directly raise the price of dietary supplements for all consumers. The FDA acknowledges this and says " We expect that the majority of these costs will be borne by consumers of dietary supplements, who will likely respond to the increase in prices by reducing consumption. " Thus, the FDA is intentionally seeking to shrink the size of the dietary supplement industry and reduce the influence of safe and effective options to improve the dreadful trend in the health of Americans. The goal is to leave toxic drugs as the primary health option. Independent analysis of this FDA rule has placed cost of compliance at 10 fold what the FDA estimates with as many as 50% of small companies unable to comply. The gutless cowards of Congress, a majority of whom are on the Big Pharma payroll or will be on it once they leave Congress, have delegated their lawmaking powers granted by the U.S. Constitution to a bunch of Big Pharma-friendly unelected bureaucrats at the FDA, who are in turn using this power to undermine free commerce and help Big Pharma eliminate competition from the market. This is the behavior of a government in tyranny, inviting a revolution by the people. It is noteworthy that fascist governments of the past have eliminated health freedom and health options as a necessary condition to enslave and brainwash a population. Congress has delegated its responsibility to the people to such an extent that over half the laws in this country are now concocted by unelected bureaucrats with vested interests. A Vehicle for Unprecedented Harassment Any company that can afford to comply with the costs and regulations of this new FDA rule can be targeted and eliminated at will by the FDA. In essence, the FDA is seeking to make the dietary supplement industry document every phase of production, including expensive testing at multiple points in the production process. Massive recordkeeping will be required, including all customer complaints and returns for any reason! This is utterly draconian and an unnecessary interference and burden to free commerce. It is completely Anti-American. No doubt, the FDA will impose user fees as an additional charge so that FDA agents will have the funding required to enforce the regulations. Under the new rule any flaw in bookkeeping can result in a company's products being declared adulterated, allowing the FDA to remove them from the market even though nothing is wrong with them! A company can then be forced out of business because they won't be able to sell any products to raise the money to comply. The rules are so complex and vague that the FDA can selectively target any company it chooses, even those attempting to comply in good faith. The FDA is doing this under the pretense of improved consumer safety. Consumer safety could readily be guaranteed by simply having all companies test their final products for purity and potency. Instead of this simple approach the FDA has gone to the extreme of burdening the dietary supplement industry with regulations in excess of the drug industry! Supplements are foods, not drugs. The food industry couldn't begin to comply with these FDA rules, even though food contamination is far more dangerous to health than dietary supplements. The FDA intends to phase this rule in over the next three years. This means that within five years half the industry and many of the health options individuals rely on will either be gone or significantly more expensive. Guest guest
Sat Nam, I have not felt a need for dietary supplements since I began doing Sat Kriya everyday for 31 minutes about four years ago. My skin looks clear and youthful, my energy is the highest it has ever been, my glands secrete properly, my body is aligned and in balance without chiropractic adjustments and I do not get diseases that require medication—although my body purges junk food once in awhile. Can you see the pharmacy industries reaction when people turn to Yoga and self healing? They may make it legally difficult to teach yoga classes. But can they ban our books? Can they monitor our breath? Interrupt our kriyas? I think not. Our most powerful weapon is our personal practice. Guest guest
Sat Nam, Guruprem Kaur, It's wonderful that you have been able to stay healthy & feel so good just through your practice of kundalini yoga. Now, how about some understanding & compassion for those of us, myself included, who are not, on our own journeys, at the same place you're at? We can't afford, either in our personal spiritual selves or as part of a global community, to have the attitude " If it doesn't affect me directly right here & now, I can't be bothered with it. Guest guest
Sat Nam Zydeco, At this point, what else can we truly do for ourselves but our personal practice? Four years ago I was suppressed by a husband that I loved and built a yogic business with. He abused and negated everything about me and blamed it on me. I was so confused that I believed everything he said and did not believe‹I could not chant without crying, my health took a steep decline, and I cut off relationships with my friends‹How could I tell anyone? All that time Yogiji encouraged me to keep the marriage going and not give up on him. Finally, my beloved beat me up and kicked me out of the house, admitting he was doing so because he had been abusive. A year later he did the same thing to his own daughter. She now lives with me and has her own recooperating to do body mind and soul. I emerged from that traumatized state by doing the kriyas Yogiji gave me‹So Darshan Chakra Kriya 5 minutes to 2 and a half hours per day and Sat Kriya for 31 minutes a day ongoing. At the same time I was being kicked out, I learned that my daughter had received brain damage in a car accident. Yogiji told me to send all my energy to her, but my energy was a mess. So I called on the ten Gurus to heal her. I still do that meditation every day. Even though she has been healed, I include healing for my step daughter, a dear neighbor and world issues that need healing. After four years of intense prayer and meditation, initially fighting my illusions and attachments in a battle of tears and screeches, I discovered who I am. It is enabling me to write a book Yogiji gave me on the deeper yogic meaning of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib, working on profound levels with the Gurus and saints. Spiritual practice is not a pill or supplement nor done to get high. It is hard work, commitment, a battleground against karmas that medicines and supplements cover up but do not heal. The book I am writing will help many people that we could otherwise never reach. Yogiji said that a thousand people will contest it but it will come through pure. A thousand is nothing compared to the millions that wil be inspired to work on themselves and discover their destinies. May you be blessed to make such a journey. Her point was however that it is possible to overcome health difficulties with a disciplined practice of kundalini yoga. She is not the only one who has overcome health difficulties in this group. She was showing a different way to see the current battle between the FDA (and I would add the American Medical Association) and the alternative medicine world. This different point of view does not show lack of compassion it shows instead that this confrontation is just a transition that will disappear of its own accord at some point in the future. Continue to let your voice heard and that you want the vitamins to be available. Best wishes and many blessings, Awtar Singh
Guest guest
Sat Nam, I do not take issue with the fact that Guruprem Kaur & others have overcome health difficulties with a disciplined practice of kundalini yoga. I have also. My point is that for some of us, and maybe for Guruprem Kaur herself at some point in the future, kundalini yoga by itself is not enough. I am thankful that KY has been an effective tool in my life to turn health issues around when nothing else has worked. Yes, KY, by itself. I am also thankful for the vitamin & herb supplements I take, along with essential oils, massage therapy, foods specific to my dosha, & physical therapy exercises, which are working in conjunction with KY to improve other health issues. In those cases, KY alone is not enough. It would be so much easier in so many ways if it was. But that is not reality for me nor for many people I know. > > > > Dear Zydeco: > > I can assure you that Guruprem Kaur has understanding and compassion > for you and others who have a difficult health time. Guest guest
Sat Nam, In Kundalini-Yoga , Guruprem Kaur <guruprem wrote: > Spiritual practice is not a pill or supplement nor done to get high. It is hard work, commitment, a battleground against karmas that medicines and supplements cover up but do not heal. Medicines & supplements are horses of two different colors. I am referring only to supplements; vitamins & herbs. It may be your experience that they do not heal. It has been mine that they do. So perhaps it would be more accurate for you to include the phrase " in my experience " in your sentence. >The book I am writing will help many people that we could otherwise never reach. Yogiji said that a thousand people will contest it but it will come through pure. A thousand is nothing compared to the millions that wil be inspired to work on themselves and discover their destinies. >May you be blessed to make such a journey. Can you step outside of yourself & hear what you've written through ears other than your own & understand that your words sound judgmental & condescending to me? You have no idea who I am, what my spiritual practice is, how long I've been practicing, how intensely, what difficulties I've overcome, where I've started from, how far I've traveled, what my journey has been. And yet you wish that I may be blessed to make the journey of working on myself & discovering my destiny. As though I haven't. As though this is not what my life has been about up to this point. Compassion is more than just practicing a technology or writing a book & holding it up for the whole world to see: " Here! This will enable you to be who you are destined to be! " We extrapolate & project so much from our own experiences, from the way our own minds process our experiences, & layer all of that onto our interactions with other people without stopping to listen & truly hear what they are saying. We judge others as being less spiritually evolved if they're not ready to buy into the solution that we're offering. We " bless " them in the hope that someday they will truly see the light (ie., the light we've seen). Guest guest
Sat Nam Zydeco, That was cool how you ended this post with my closing Blessing, as though I had written it. For it is something I would have written, even about myself. It is human. Thank you, Guruprem Kaur
