Guest guest
Sat Nam, All! I have a student who has been an insomniac since she was an adolescent, but it has exacerbated over the past few years. I am looking for pranayama exercises, kriyas, and meditations that might help her as part of a holistic healing program. Many thanks for your insights! Peace, light, and love, Guru Rakha Kaur
Guest guest
Sat Nam Guru Rakha Kaur, Kirtan Sohila takes only 4 or 5 minutes to recite. It brings deeper sleep and helps one wake up feeling refreshed. It also surrounds you in the magnetic field, protection, of the earth. Yogi Bhajan has suggested this for sleep at times and one minute breath for eleven minutes. One time he told someone to read from the Siri Guru Granth Sahib until they fall asleep. I think if someone does not have a Siri Guru Granth a person could just read nitnem prayers until they fall asleep. There is a specific yoga set, too. It may be in sadhana guidelines. She may want to get Sangeet Kaurs’ “Naad:The Blessing” and just close her eyes and chant with this for 11 minutes before sleeping- for making the impossible possible and miracles happen. Sweating, working out, is another thing YB said was important for the ability to sleep well. Sometimes just praying for others, on and on and on, until reaching a place of peace is how I’ve gotten to sleep when I just couldn’t sleep. Whatever my imbalance is I will pray that anyone who has that imbalance on the earth be balanced or healed. Then I just keep praying. When I think a persons problem won’t be solved by simple suggestions or a mantra or yoga exercise I tell the person to see a Sat Nam Rasayan healer. Perhaps even get an appointment with Guru Dev himself. Especially when people are at their wits end. gurudevsnr.com is the website I am aware of for Sat Nam Rasayan information. Guest guest
Shabd Kriya is the best for sleep. If your student lasts more than 31 minutes at night doing this, I would be surprised. Also, simmer iceberg lettuce in water or milk, make a soup of it or blend it into a drink, and have that before bed. Iceberg lettuce is distantly related to the opium poppy, and boiling it at low heat will bring this out. Not sure if you have to eat the lettuce or if you can just drink the water or milk it's boiled in - if anyone else knows, I too would be thankful for the clarification. sat nam, -Baba Singh
