Sat Nam,

There's a great new book available on Amazon written by David

Shannahoff-Khalsa and titled " Kundalini Yoga Meditation " .

David was asked to write it by one of the editors at W. W. Norton

after she read his work published and given at an APA conference, if

I recall the location correctly.

Featured are Meditations for Anxiety Disorder, Panic Attack, OCD,

ADHD, ADD, Bipolar (Co-Occurring Disorder), Clinical Depression and

other DSM-IV conditions.

I've found it especially helpful because in teaching both Radiant

Child Yoga and Meditation Based in Kundalini Yoga, I have clients

with ADHD, ADD and autism in children. One adult meditation class

includes a surgical nurse with panic attacks. She assists in brain

surgery.

One advantage is that some of the panic-allaying techniques feature

pranayam only. She doesn't want to repeat many mantras.

The price from W. W. Norton is $39.95, but I got a copy on Amazon for

$23.

It seems to be a powerful tool in the arsenal of any KY teacher.

I know I'm offering free classes at the VA in Dallas since reading

the clinical trials. The amazing thing is that David has run

clinical trials with doctors, combining an " alternative method " with

the traditional tests.

Also, depending on your contacts, you can present these techniques to

Police Departments and Mental Health Groups.

I monitor the crisis line for one of the NAMI groups in Dallas -

National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, and at the recent NAMI

meeting, a Dallas Police Corporal talked about the classes he's

teaching to the Police Dept. on how to deal with the mentally ill or

disturbed. Certain pranayam and mudras could help both sides.

In short, there are infinite uses for the meditations, pranayams,

mudras and mantras in this book. I highly recommend it.

Sincerely, Sat Nam,

Ananda Kaur
