Guest guest
Hello KY group! I have had a great Summer. I have been able to do a lot of yoga, specifically KY yoga. I feel real strong and I think I have learned a lot. A while ago someone from this group helped me find a KY yoga teacher in a nearby town. I went there and it was a great class. I will be back to teaching again in about 2 weeks (middle school). I have been studying the ten bodies and what I would like to know is whether one works with them as a whole or if one can work on specific " bodies " . In a book I have called Kundalini Yoga by Shakta Kaur Kalsa there is a brief discription of the 10 bodies and some exercises. I have experimented with the exercises and they seem to be excellent, very calming and energizing at the same time. I would like to find out more about how to work with the 10 bodies. What I am attempting is to practice a group of exercises each day with some meditations that I could do in a short period of time (30-40 minutes) when I go back to work. I would appreciate any suggestions, ideas or recommendations. Sat Nam Fred
Guest guest
Sat Nam Fred, I am teaching a class series on the 10 Bodies in both of my yoga classes. One book that I have found to be overwhelmingly helpful in explaining the 10 bodies, is " The 10 Light Bodies of Consciousness " by Nirvair Singh Khalsa. It goes into great detail on all of the bodies, as well as gives exercises and meditations for each body. It's been an invaluable help in not only teaching this class series but on a personal level as well. I hope this helps! Guest guest
Sat Nam Fred, For years I've taught an eight week KY class covering all the chakras and have used "Energy Maps: A Journey Through the Chakras" by Gurudarshan K Khalsa as an excellent reference manual with great yoga sets. I'm not sure if her books are still available: Cyber Scribe, PO Box 8466, LA Crescenta CA 91214. Being that your a teacher of the "hormonally challenged" you may be interested in getting a book I recently authored entitled, "Teaching Discipline and Self-Respect: Effective Strategies, Anecdotes, and Lessons for Successful Classroom management" CorwinPress.com. I included a chapter on Managing Your Stress which includes typical work stressors and maintaining a positive mental attitude as a teacher. SiriNam S.
