Tom and Lisa Law were the first people I met in April 1979. Tom arrived back from the first Earth Day, must have been April 22nd or 23rd. He directed me to meet Yogi Bhajan in LA at his Melrose Center. I left Espanola on the morning of the 24th and had my first class at 7 pm at the Melrose Center.

The festival was supposed to have begun at 3:00 p.m., but Sweetwater, the first band scheduled to go on, was mired in traffic with all of its equipment.16 A helicopter was dispatched to find them and airlift them to the stage. Various means were used to amuse the crowd in the meantime. One of the Hog Farmers, Tom Law, sat in the lotus position on the center of the stage and led those who were willing among the 100,000 gathered in front of him through a series of yoga exercises. excerpt: http://www.woodstockpreservation.org/SignificanceStatement.htm

A principle in life to remember is to travel light. You are traveling all the time.Travel light, live light, spread the light, be the light.

– Yogi Bhajan

Sitting one afternoon on the sofa in my apartment on Westgate, Yogi Bhajan suddenly closed his eyes, and seemed to go into deep meditation. A couple of minutes passed and then the phone rang. It was Tom Law, his student-teacher, calling from Woodstock to get help, because someone had laced the drinking water with LSD.
