Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan is designed to prepare your system and especially your nervous system so that you can handle higher consciousness (Kundalini rising) with stability.

That 's why kriyas are sometimes hard, it pushes our limit so that we can become strong as steel and steady as stone. Then we can face spiritual experiences without being overwhelmed.
