Guest guest
It’s one of the stunningly beautiful Guru Ram Das Slokas.. The blue-and-gold hard bound volume of PEACE LAGOON – p 212.. Rag Suhi.. I would make myself a slave to the one who can take me to meet my beloved Lord. This is the epitome of devotion, I not only devote myself to the ‘One’, I also worship the one who gives me a glimpse of the one.. See also the other famous Guru Ram Das one by Singh Kaur, p.207 Rag Asa: My eyes are damp with the nectar of the Lord.. The bhakti spirit of Guru Ram Das is exquisite and often resonates with us.. Guest guest
Sat Nam Pritam Hari Kaur; Thank you for your help with this and for your additional comments. The " I would make myself a Slave " song resonated very strongly with me from the beginning of my journey into the Guru, (2004); because I felt I had been magically brought to the feet of the Guru by Snatam Kaur's chanting and was filled with that same gratitude expressed in the title line. So I understand in my own way, something about the intensity of that devotion being expressed. I had to smile when I read your suggestion to check out Guru Ram Das's Raag Asa " My eyes are wet with the nectar of the Lord. " That song was a a translation of the first Hukam I ever heard - taken by Snatam on my first visit to the local sikh Gurdwara. That opening line spoke to me immediately as my eyes had indeed been wet with tears of bliss every time I heard Gurbani chanting - which until that hukam had amounted only to hearing Snatam Kaur's CDs Shanti and Prem for a few weeks. Those tears and the transformations brought about by listening to kirtan were what made it compelling for me to go the sikh Gurdwara here. Months later I found the " Slave of slaves " song online and then bought the Singh Kaur " Crimson " CD. Needless to say I was more than thrilled to find that the title song " Crimson " on that CD is a song of that first Hukam. Thank you again for your help, comments and suggestions! Wahe Guru!
