Guest guest
Dear Jiwan Shakti I thought your description of what moves you deeply in your life was so beautiful, and with some variations, I would say that I feel just the same way you do about those various experiences, being in the natural world and laughing and being with friends and in deep meditation all being what my heart searches for each day, and what makes me feel at the end of the day, that I've had a good day..... so, in thinking about what Yogiji was expressing, it's in that word " satisfaction " that the mystery of what he's saying lies. Experiencing emotional richness is the mother of heart opening, so for me, I do not think he meant that the difficulty was in the emotional part of the phrase. Rather, I think he is talking about the quality of satisfaction. It is very different from contentment. I think what you and I ,and I'm sure all with poetry in their souls, feel from these moving experiences, these joyful emotions, even from the profoundly moving ones whether sharing sadness with another or happiness, is contentment. We hear the word satisfaction and we associate it with what we know as contentment. But I think Yogiji is warning against is the stagnation in satisfaction. Contentment is a still and quiet place, full of gratitude, but it isn't stagnant. He once spoke about longing and how important it is because it moves people to keep searching, to hone their skills, develop their talents, reach for their destinies and so it is by being moved that that deep longing motivates us. I think we can have contentment even in the very process of feeling longing, and that's the mystery! But to feel satisfied would mean a stasis that would not serve our evolution. In any case, it's my feeling that this warning against satisfaction was not aimed towards you. Maybe that's why it may not make sense to you but stirs your reflection which is always a good thing! What you are describing is contentment and love and those are very emotionally fulfilling. Bless you for your beautiful heart, and dont' worry!
