Guest guest
Sat Nam Nam Kaur, The Paiste Symphonic is the way to gong.....and 28" is the smallest Gong size that can be considered a "full chakra Gong". Get nothing smaller. Spend a little more. I bought my Paiste 28" Symphonic with stand, mallet and carrying bag for $900 in 2001. Additionally, there are some beautiful sounding and feeling Gongs coming out of Italy (UFIP). The site I connected with and acquiring one is http://www.edmann.info/GONGS_02.html I was able to go there and test out a number of Gongs before settling on a 36" ART I ( http://www.edmann.info/UFIP_ART01Gongs.html with audio samples). They also have a number of different mallets. The Wuhan Chau Gongs have a bit of a *growl* to them, which can be of use. In the early history of the Chinese Gong, they were often used for the purpose of intimidation and getting people's attention when announcing the entrance of someone with political power. BTW, striking any gong in the wrong manner can have a disruptive and intimidating effect on the nervous system. The Paiste Gong is a Chau, in design, but without that growl. Check out http://gongsunlimited.com/ for all kinds of Gongs (and some humor) Bless, Dharam Millis, MA namkaur wrote: Sat Nam All, I would like to buy a gong to use during shivasana at the end of my KY classess. I am wondering what size gong is typically used in Kundalini meditation? I see that the cost of 22" Paiste gong is somewhat affordable, ~$500, but that any bigger gets much more expensive. Is 22" acceptable? If not what larger size is recommended by those of you with more experience. (There is no Kundalini Yoga teacher with a gong in my area to ask about this, but I was previously taught to how to use the gong at teacher training).
