Kundalini-friendly diet question...

Greetings all!

I have been practicing Kundalini on and off here in Los Angeles for

several years now, and have steadily been able to practice via DVD

2x/wk (I have a REALLY busy schedule!). I have weight issues, and I

do not eat unhealthily and/or excessively. I would like to be within

a healthy weight range (I am just over) and I am seeking a

vegetarian diet/way of eating that is compatible with a Kundalini

yoga practice. I am reading the Golden Temple Vegetarian Cookbook-

and while it is great, I simply don't have the time to cook daily (I

wish I did!). Any suggestions for ways to go? Books? Websites?

Anything?

FYI- I have really tried the raw diet, but found that it wasn't a

good fit for me, as I simply don't like uncooked food enough to eat

it regularly, and it was very cooling in a way that didn't seem to

provide me enough daily energy. Any thoughts/feedback appreciated in

my search for good health and a balanced weight!

: )

I would suggest going to a good Ayurvedic doc. Often people eat

healthy food by it is not right for their body type. A good Ayurved

can help you with this and thus suggest a good diet and supplements.

If you do not have enough time to cook, make a big batch of

kitcheree, spice it according to your dosha and eat this. You can

live on kitcheree.

Hi Sarah - I offered this cleanse for people to take part in this Fall.

There are still a few days before Thanksgiving if you wanted to try it

out. If not, there are somerecipes on the recipe page for helping your

transition into a vegetarian diet and healthier eating. Also read on

the cleanse page about weaning off stuff at the bottom part. Also if

you don't cook for yourself, you are most likely getting too much sodium

and fat in your diet. Perhaps you could do some pre-prep to help you at

a certain time of week when you have a block of time. You marinade some

tofu for the week in a simple lemon/garlic/Braggs marinade and a

separate one for fajitas. At the same time you can make a big batch of

masala and break it up into freezable sizes to make batches of Mung

Beans & Rice, Kitcheree and/or Dal. Freezing it in small batches makes

it easy to make the dish later. If you can't do any of this because,

you just absolutely don't have the time, do you have a food preparation

chain like a Dream Dinners or Good For You Meals or Super Suppers

kitchen where you live. Many times if you give them a recipe they will

make it for you.

Here's the cleanse page and you can link into the recipes page:
